For years, after mountain lions had been hunted to the edge of extinction in the lower 48 states, one heard that mountain lions were afraid of humans and would never attack them. So we stopped shooting them.

I have often wished I had a gun with me when we hike in the mountains, just for peace of mind. My husband thinks I'm nutty for worrying about mountain lions and bears. His concern is more the 2 legged animals, while I worry about all kinds of animals.

Looks like we will have to outlaw mountain lions now.

I admire the majestic beauty of the might cats yadda yadda yadda.
You attack a human, you die. WE are at the top of the food chain, and we're staying there.

Just for the record. I had nothing to do with this.

There was a time when mountain lions saw us as extremely dangerous animals; now, after a few too many Disney movies, we're lunch.
Hmmm... Perhaps if the cyclists had only hummed a few bars of Hakuna Matata.

It's too bad these folks didn't exercise their God given, constitutionally guaranteed right to bear arms, then they could be in jail right now.

This is the result of the voter-approved bans, in West Coast states, of hunting cougars with dogs.
The attacks will increase until the voters have the collective sense to repeal these stupid, stupid laws.

MOUNTAIN LION SAFETY TIPS Do not hike alone; go in groups with adults supervising children. I like the idea of Mountain Lions being in the wild. However...environmental types pooh-pooh the notion that lions are a hazard, but now we have the State saying not to hike alone. Because of a few lions, you can't go on a solitary hike, but need back-up.
If it isn't safe to hike alone, why don't they recommend a weapon as hiking companion? Might be more effective than bringing another victim to the lion's meal.

"They're here, but they're hungry. They're like out of towners and they still have to eat," he said.Maybe the feds should have simply moved that herd of bulls they slaughtered a few days ago and set them to roam in Orange County.
