I am probably going to regret posting this as my "my comments" gets innundated, but while the insquabbling amongst all of us is a huge downer to me, debates over the reason why things are the way they are always interest me.

So here goes...

This Texan is very angry at Dubya for his immigration stance. Practically everyone I know is angry at him for this. I am encouraging everyone I talk to about this to write in Tancredo on their ballot this November.

Having lived in California for a decade now, Derb, I too have noticed the difference in attitudes toward illegal immigrants between Texans and my fellow residents of the Golden State. The best explanation I've come across? That whereas welfare payments here in California are lavish, those in Texas are minimal. Which of course means that whereas Californians are quite understandably suspicious that illegal aliens enter our state to take advantage of our countless welfare offerings, Texans may rest content in the knowledge that Mexicans slip across the Rio Grande only because they want to work.

I've lived in texas 38 years and I can tell you that in the last 10-15 years the non english speaking population has exploded. They are DEMANDING that we adhere to THEIR language, THEIR culture, THEIR ideals, etc, etc, etc...

They act as if WE owe them something. WE owe them nothing !!

Do I sound like I have a bad attitutde towards ILLEGALS? You bet I do.
