Governor Jennifer Granholm snubbed Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge during his visit to St. Clair County Michigan when he failed to meet her schedule today. His office did not release Ridges arrival time and how long he would be in the county.
How did SHE snub him if he wouldn't tell her what time he planned to be in town?

This is not breaking news.

Appears Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow had no problem with schedules Detroit media reported her evening plans this morning and last night----
How would an hour or so make a difference it was her first visit to that county since she campaigned over a year ago
To: stands2reason
So where's this reported???
To: ClintonBeGone
She was with the Michigan State Police Director-- would you think he'd have explained
To: JJA for Michigan
I can't stand Granholm. Then again, I can't stand Ridge so I guess this is a wash.

ATTM (according to the moderators) "Breaking News" is reserved for items of national importance that would be urgent enough for a newscast to break into regular TV programming.
(I think they're a little anal about it myself....)
Welcome to FR, BTW!

So? Granholm is the chief executive of a sovereign state; Ridge just works for one. In terms of 'precedent',it's up to Ridge to adjust his schedule to mesh with hers.

Here is the linked article. I don't understand the purpose of the thread. It's not reporting, there are no facts, it's just speculation.
Tom Ridge's visit today won't be a public affair

State's security progressing
By JOSEPH DEINLEIN
Times Herald
MARYSVILLE -- The road to securing St. Clair County's 23 townships from man-made and natural disasters is not easy to travel, but the deputy director of the state's homeland security department said progress is being made.
"The business of homeland security is not for wimps," said Capt. John Ort of the Michigan State Police,
which oversees homeland security in the state. "We're in this for the long haul."
Ort spoke to the St. Clair County chapter of the Michigan Townships Association at its annual dinner meeting Thursday. He, county Emergency Management Coordinator Jeffrey Friedland and others spoke to about 300 elected and appointed officials in attendance.
Grant Township Supervisor Jim Reid said Ort and Friedland's presentations were good reviews of how the state, county and local townships can secure federal grant money, plus the obstacles that need to be overcome. "This is not a giveaway program," Reid said.
During his presentation, Ort reviewed the state's process for securing federal dollars. He said part of the $62 million in grant money will be set aside for local municipalities by March. The municipalities have until Dec-ember 2005 to use it.
He also said the grant money works on reimbursement. "You buy a firetruck, then send us the receipt."
Though money will be available to upgrade equipment, Ort said it will be almost impossible to bring every police and fire department and township government up to the same level. He said "regionalization" -- various municipalities working together -- would be key in some areas.
# Contact Joseph Deinlein at (810) 989-6272 or
jdeinlein@gannett.com. Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge will spend several hours in St. Clair County today, but there will be no events open to the public.
Ridge will take part in a tour and demonstration of the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) system on the Blue Water Bridge today, Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Cherise Miles said.
That's disappointing news to Tim Hast, 33, of Port Huron.
He wanted to talk to Ridge.
"I just have some questions I'd like to hear his answers to," Hast said.
"I'd like to know if he's going to give us any money."
Ridge's arrival time and how long he will be in the county is not being released by his office.
He's also expected to meet privately with Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm and with several local officials, which likely will include county Administrator Troy Feltman and Jeffrey Friedland, the county's emergency management coordinator.
St. Clair County officials want to show Ridge the security risks in the county, which include the Blue Water Bridge, the border with Canada, the four power plants, eight water plants, 30-plus natural gas pipelines and two major highways.
They hope the federal government will help pick up some of the cost for a new $12.4 million countywide communications system.
U.S. Sens. Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow, both Democrats from Michigan, and U.S. Rep. Candice Miller, R-Harrison Township, are expected to join Ridge in his visit.
"It's tremendous to have him here in St. Clair County," Miller said.

From the jumble of the article, I can't say as Debbie (whom I despise) did anything so terrible. If it's true, she is the person who should be upset, not Ridge.
To: JJA for Michigan
Who cares? Ridge is a gun grabbing dick.
Why not let him learn a little appreciation for how the little people are the ones he works for?
