[history]
Jan. 9 - The litany against Howard Dean is reminiscent of the bill of particulars against Al Gore. The specifics vary, but the pattern is the same: Gore claimed he invented the Internet, he said the male character in "Love Story" was modeled after him, and he took credit for uncovering Love Canal.

...ummmmmmmm... news flash, Eleanor: the reason the press is (finally) starting to treat Dean the way they (grudgingly) did Gore is because he's been repeatedly caught L-Y-I-N-G the same way Gore was, over and over and over again,
ad infinitum.
Sheeeesh! Buy yourself a clue already, willya, toots...? :)

Sloppy reporting together with willful distortion of what Gore meant contributed to his image as a serial exaggerator who could not be trusted. That's interesting stuff coming from Eleanor Clift...the biggest perpetrator of willful distortion and sloppy reporting in the press today!

Oh, this is also the same bimbo that says everything that comes out of Bush's mouth is a flat out lie.

The fact that Dean is still standing after the onslaught of negative publicity the last few weeks shows his staying power. No it shows that most Americans pay little attention to politics until a week or 2 before an election. Many actually go into the voting booth undecided.

A typical Clift column, no common thread except the Republicans are finks.
She is however right on one point: the immigration policy of GWB is extremely vague.
And for good reason.
What should be done regarding illegal immigrants has been the two ton gorilla that neither party wants to tame, particularly the Democrats.
The problem facing the left wing party is it maintains a very disparate electoral base that includes some minorities and the unions. And the expectations of these groups do not always jibe.
Any Democrat who wants to mainstream illegals faces the wrath of the unions who do not want a glut of low wage labor, it drives down the wages of their members.
And of course they do not want to tick off the minority populace, particularly the Hispanics, many of whom want nothing more than the legalization of any person who can alight on US soil.
So the Democrats just turned a blind eye to the problem.
GWB faced a similar problem, except he did not pull very much union support, and the demographics of this year's election indicate a need for Hispanic support.
And so he came up with this vague (and it really is) idea.
Unfortunately, he (make the Rove) did not see the antipathy (read that rage) the policy would create among his base.
The policy regarding illegal immigrants was made sufficiently vague, hoping it would pass under the radar of his conservative base. Now that it has not, he is in a pickle.
He has to hope those enraged conservatives forgive him enough to hold their noses and vote for him in November (the 'anyone is better than a Democrat' lifeline). Or there are enough impressed Hispanics (and let's face it, those are the people we are talking about) to offset the loss in his base.
Fully believe this was merely a political ploy, the consequences of which may not have been well seen.
Whether it works for him or not, it makes what has been a rather dull election cycle more interesting.

Is she forgetting the mass hysteria over Trent Lott's off hand quotes? The sneering at George Bush's speech patterns? What if Bush had said the exact same things as Dean has? What would she say then???

Sometimes they have her on the radio her in the mornings.
YOu can tell when she's lying by the tremor in her voice.
Pathetic.

Is it just me or does anyone else have a problem with Eleanor "Clinton" Clift being a contributor and commentator on Fox News? (Fox and Friends). E.D. claimed on a show a month ago that they LOVE Eleanor.
As a Conservative I am not interested in Fair and Balanced ... I just want the truth.
If I got to see and hear the Lying Liberal Eleanor "Clinton" Clift on Fox News I might as well watch CNN. I have E-mailed Fox and Friends about my disgust when Eleanor is on the show. I could use some help with some E-mails to Fox News from from other Conservatives who feel the same.
