Dean Blows Stack During Iowa Q & A

Democratic presidential front-runner Howard Dean blew his stack at an Iowa voter on Sunday who had asked him to end his "slam, bam and bash" rhetoric attacking President Bush.

"Please tone down the garbage, the mean-mouthing of tearing down your neighbor and being so pompous," said Dale Ungerer during a question-and-answer session initiated by Dean after he had delivered his standard stump speech at the Oelwein Community Centre on Sunday.

Dean's response was calm at first, telling Ungerer, "George Bush is not my neighbor."

But when the Iowa Republican stood and tried to interrupt, Dean shouted: "You sit down. You had your say. Now I'm going to have my say."

According to Reuters, Dean railed, "George Bush has done more to harm this county right here with unfunded mandates, standing up for corporations who take over the farmers' land, making it impossible for middle class people to make a real living, sending our kids to Iraq without telling us the truth first about why they went."

Then, in a particularly ugly sound bite, the Democratic front-runner added, "It's not the time to put up any of this 'love thy neighbor' stuff."

"I love my neighbor," Dean insisted. "But I'll tell you I want THAT neighbor back in Crawford, Texas, where he belongs."

The episode marks the first time that the short-fused Democrat has lost his temper in public during the campaign, although last month he admitted he sometimes gets so angry he needs to be physically restrained.

"If someone punches me I am apt to chase them down, and I need to be restrained by the people who know better and have been in the game longer than I have," Dean told MSNBC.

I notice that the AP article omitted the "It's not the time to put up any of this 'love thy neighbor' stuff" comment.

"he's implooding too soon"

I agree. The establishment left is trying to get rid of him in favor of anyone--even Kerry. Witness the Russert show this morning. It was a Kerry commercial.

"That man has more PMS than any woman I know....sure don't want him with control of our nucUlar bombs."

Yeah, but I want him to have the launch codes for the Democrat National Party.

Among other criticisms the Democrats make, I believe they say that President Bush is not "diplomatic" enough, does not do his best to find consensus. Yet they, especially Dean, give every appearance of being far less "diplomatic" and willing to understand than anything they criticize him for. Imagine Dean trying to be a worldwide peacemaker!

Ungerer should have flipped him off and told him to shove it!

If Dean told me to shut up because it was his turn, I'd say, "make me you dwarf".

If you have to "prove" you're a man....well....there must've been a little doubt in there somewhere, eh?.....;)

**According to Dr. Dean, that "Love your neighbor" stuff is Old Testament theology which doesn't mesh with his new found beliefs.**

Maybe he can find it in his favorite book, Job.

**Can't wait till Karl Rove starts pushing his buttons.**

LOL!

And now we know that talking about his temper is one of the hot buttons.

Or was it ...... not sitting down?

Wonderful! Keep it up Howie!

Imagine telling a voter to "SIT DOWN!!!" Not going to make many points, there! HeeHee!

That sort of behavior, and his lack of basic grammar are not going to do him any good in a debate. Also, the guy is just going to stimulate people to irk him -- just to set him off.

Some candidate!

**Dale Ungerer, a retiree from Hawkeye, Iowa, lectured Dean for nearly three minutes near the end of a forum aimed at winning voters for Iowa's Jan. 19 caucuses.**

From that link -- this guy deserves to have someone take him out for a steak and a beer. At first I thought he might be a FReeper!

This brings to mind the Monty Python "Holy Grail" stunt of the Black Knight when he is chopped to pieces and wants more. Wish I still had the picture saved on my desktop.
