Oh man -- I thought that name sounded familiar. Any other Freeper Trojans know if this is the same guy?

It's purely anecdotal, but every "Malik" I've ever heard of was not someone of Middle-Eastern origin, but an African American who converted to Islam. Could be in this case, too.

He might qualify as a man of middle eastern decent..... ;-) But I don't want to jump to any conclusions.....

Nope

He is just your typical American perp prison convict convert to Islam.

His name could be Mike Tyson, but then he'd have fans on an FR thread defending him. Let's see if he has any show up here.

I had an experience not too long ago that may have been similar. I was picking up someone at a smaller, regional airport and pulled into short-term parking. A police officer said he needed to search my car. I'm licensed to carry a pistol in my state, and I had a pistol in the back of my Jeep (in a canvas bag). I was wondering how I was going to explain this and if there would be any penalty to me for having this. I was getting ready to disclose that I had this weapon, rather than make the officer find it. While I was trying to think quickly, the officer just took a look at a couple of the bags in the back of my Jeep, glanced under the car, and then told me I was free to enter the parking area, which I did.

I'd never try to carry a pistol into a "sanitized" area of an airport, and I'd expect a serious criminal charge if I did. But a weapon in a car that is generally legal doesn't become illegal simply because I pull into an airport parking lot, or does it?

RE POST NO. 12

YES.

It was some time later that final reports quietly came out.
No real press coverage.

re post no. 20

It's a real streeeeeeeeetch to call a random check racial profiling --- unless one is part of the lame-stream-media or CAIR.

Seems more likely to be a native born black Muslim.
There are not a lot of arab football players.

The anti-4th types will be jumping for joy.

Searching at the entrance of a Govt. facility (Airport) or a Govt. building has nothing to do with the 4th amendment.
No one forced him to enter.
Even a random search of his home would not be illegal if it was a condition of his parole.

Oh boy! I can hear it now............."racial profiling".

The article says, "during a random vehicle check..." Just the kind of irrelevant detail the ACLU will ignore.

It took the FBI forever to declare the July 4, 2002 shooting at LAX at the El Al ticket counter a terrorist attack.

WEINER URGES FBI TO INVESTIGATE EL AL AIRPORT SHOOTING
AS POSSIBLE TERRORIST ATTACK

WEINER: "PREMATURE" TO RULE OUT TERROR

Washington, D.C. - Rep. Anthony Weiner (D - Queens & Brooklyn) has called on the FBI to investigate this month’s shooting at the Los Angeles International Airport as a possible terrorist attack. In a letter to FBI Director Mueller, Weiner cautioned the FBI to avoid mistakes made in the investigation of the 1994 attack on Yeshiva students on the Brooklyn Bridge.

On July 4, Hesham Muhammad Ali Hadayet, an Egyptian national, opened fire at the El Al ticket counter in the Los Angeles International Airport, killing two. Despite the fact that the shooter had expressed anti-Israel sentiments and that the victims were both Israeli, the FBI has thus far indicated that it does not consider the shooting to be a terrorist act.

In March of 1994, Rashid Baz opened fire on a van of Yeshiva students on the Brooklyn Bridge, killing Ari Halberstam, of Brooklyn. Initially, the FBI characterized the shooting as a road rage incident, but after almost seven years of pressure by the victim’s mother, Devorah Halberstam, the FBI reclassified the shooting as an act of terror, saying that the shooting was motivated by the assailants desire to retaliate against Jewish people.

In his letter, Rep. Weiner urges the FBI to proceed carefully, and not make the same mistake twice. "The families of the victims of the July 4, 2002 attack should not have to endure the same agonizing crusade that Mrs. Halberstam undertook to have the Brooklyn Bridge attack properly classified," said Rep. Weiner in his letter. "I believe that the investigators of the Los Angeles International Airport shooting acted prematurely in stating that this attack was not an act of terrorism. I respectfully request that you consult with those directing the investigation of the July 4 attacks and urge then to consider the results of the reinvestigation of the Ari Halberstam case as they proceed with their investigation."

"Sultan Abdul-Malik said he was at the airport to pick up a friend."

Two questions:

#1: Was the friend the sultan was picking up at LAX questioned?

and

#2: What credentials are required to be a sultan in the United States?
