Q. What will happen to the firearms industry if this bill dies?
A. I am a firearms manufacturer when I am not posting on the web or lobbying members of congress.
Killing the bans will help the American economy, many Americans will buy guns again to get the ones they missed out on before the ban.
Americans will be free to take their "AW" guns out of hiding, go shooting, and buy ammunition.
It will be good news for all the manufactureres who did not base their entire product line on sucking-up to the gun ban crowd.

The companies afflicted with PC-itis will not change their products.

Those who only make PC guns because they are forced to will again offer whatever the public wants to buy, and the consumer will decide who sells more. I could go into much greater detail, but I do not want to write a book here.

Q. Will the Post-Ban /Pre-sunset AWs go down in value?
A. Depends on which gun. Some guns are NOT ever coming back no matter what the law allows, particularly obsolete models no longer made anywhere.
The sunset does not affect the IMPORTED "AW" ban.
Some manufacturers may reintroduce banned models, and "pre-bans" of those models MAY lose some value.
I feel that guns which are over-valued only because thay are "pre-ban" will lose some "value", but guns that are truly valued for what they are will hold their value.

Q. In particular, will I be able to convert my Saiga 7.62x39 (currently 10 round mags only with no pistol grip or bayonet lug) to whatever I please?
A. "to whatever I please? " Your question is not specific enough.
If the ban dies you would be able to add a normal stock, flash hider, bayonet lug, and the ability to accept normal capacity (in place of the abnormal limited capacity) magazines.

Q. Will I be able to, after the sunset, be able to convert high-cap mags to work in my Saiga?
A. Yes, but that would be the hard way to do it. Much simpler to modify the gun to accept stock normal capacity magazines.

You make some good points.

I suspect Colt will continue to produce post ban AR-15's and Ruger will continue to not sell high capacity mini-14 mags to the public.
