I doubt he'd support Howard Dean. He's still supposedly a Republican (51% by his last measure) and he's opening a lobbying business.
If he wants no influence in the Texas Legislature, endorsing Dean would be the best way to guarantee that.

I meant that he's the leader of the Democrats in Texas these days.
Three people have lost to Bush: Ann Richards in '94, Garry Mauro in '98, and Al Gore in '00. Richards and Gore have endorsed Dean, but Mauro is supporting Gephardt. The only person to defeat Bush, Kent Hance, has endorsed Bush.
