Cain defends Bush visit to King Center

U.S. Senate Candidate calls presidential visit a tribute

Forest Park, Ga., Jan. 15, 2004- Herman Cain, conservative Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, believes that President Bush's visit to Atlanta to pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is entirely appropriate.

"Too often people get so caught up in the partisan differences that they forget he is the president of the United States," Cain said. "I think it is a wonderful tribute to Dr. King for the President to put it into his schedule to be here in order to participate."

Cain defended President Bush when he heard that protestors believe that the president's visit is more of an afterthought to a big political fundraiser that Bush is holding later today.

"I totally disagree with the protestors," Cain stated. "This is the fortieth anniversary year of the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and I believe that having President Bush here to commemorate Dr. King is entirely appropriate and sends a wonderful message to everyone that the great civil rights leader message is still alive."

Signed into law, on July 2, 1964, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed segregation in businesses such as theaters, restaurants, and hotels. It banned discriminatory practices in employment and ended segregation in public places such as swimming pools, libraries, and public schools.

Herman Cain, a conservative Republican from McDonough, Ga., is running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Zell Miller (D-GA). A successful businessman and author of three books, Cain has served as Chairman and CEO of Godfathers Pizza as well as head of the National Restaurant Association. Married for 35 years, Cain has two children and one grandchild. He is also an associate minister at Antioch Baptist Church North in Atlanta.

Herman Cain is a true conservative. This campaign is taking off. Expect surprised comments from the liberal media when this underdog ends up in a run off with Johnny Isakson for this US Senate seat.

Let's see....when MLK was assassinated, wasn't the President of the United States a democRAT named LBJ (Lyndon Baines Johnson...not Long Blow Job as has been rumored)? If I'm not mistaken, James Earl Ray was also a registered democRAT, wasn't he?

To those of you not from Georgia and not lucky enough to know who Herman Cain is, take some time out to look at this fine conservative. His is a name you will hear again and again.

He is running to replace the Senate seat Zell Miller is vacating and is the best conservative in the race, even if not the most readily known name.

I will crawl through fire to vote for him when his name appears on any ballot. He's a good man with good ideas.

I admire determination, and I am volunteering in the Cain headquarters, but I dearly hope we don't have to go to those extremes to exercise our responsibility to vote in this election.

add me to the ping list! I've already signed up with his campaign.

His statement is the first, and only, I've seen defending President Bush. And he doesn't even agree with all that spending.

I am pumped for this one folks!

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Great post!

I saw the protest being covered on the tv news, but nothing showing Bush honoring Martin Luther King.

Go Cain, go!

He looks like a real strong candidate. He needs some updated glasses, though.

Is this man still associated with Godfather's Pizza? Appearing in ads for the chain, as a successful Black businessman would get him good name and face recognition.
