[history]
January 16, 2004 -- PRESIDENT Bush's proposal to legalize the country's 10 or so million illegal aliens rests on a fallacy: that immigration enforcement has failed to stem the tide of illegal aliens. Therefore, the argument goes, amnesty is the only solution to the illegal-alien crisis.

sarcasm, this article nearly says it all! You'll be interested to know that the other day, in one of my routine calls to the White House, I connected with a non-hostile-for-a-change volunteer comments line call-taker. She found herself agreeing with my arguments about the unfairness of the Bush proposal to the thousands who are legally engaged in applying for citizenship in the United States (she herself emigrated from Czechoslovakia in the 50s). Then, when I asked her if the calls were overwhelmingly on the immigration issue and whether the callers were overwhelmingly furious about the proposal, she said she was not permitted to give out this information. I then retorted, "Well, I bet if you were permitted, you'd say 'yes'." To this, she replied, "You're a smart cookie."
Please keep up the good work of your postings of relevant articles. We'll win this battle if we don't give in.

Forget "cheap labor," votes, and his pal Foxy even if the President really, really believes it is needed to "get control" here is IMO why it won't.
Immigrant advocacy groups are even more powerful than ever. Hyphenated groups rule. "Have lawsuits, will travel. We have political influence, too! Nothing can stop us."
Leaving things as they are is not working either and here's why IMO.

Bush is willing to risk his chances for reelection (he sure will be losing votes as well as contributions because of this and not just from the conservativs) as well as the security and future of this country in order to cater to lowlife illegal aliens.
And then there is the odd relationship between him and Fox.

That "relationship" really bothers me. Why in the hell is OUR president posturing so much to MEXICO'S?

In addition to the
Blatant Pandering to people (blacks and 'hispanics') who'd rather eat pooh that vote for Bush or any Republican for that matter - while at the same time completely alienating 'the people who brung him to the dance', what also bothers me is that I think Karl Rove REALLY believes this
strategy will work.
As such, come next November, Dubya better pray that there isn't another Guillermo Horton out there that the leftist lame-stream media will spring out and plaster on the front page of every rag in the USA right before the election, to wit;
UNDOCUMENTED 'WORKER' KILLS 13
Was Here on Bush's Guest Worker Program
Can you say, ''Call Allied Van Lines'', Mr. Rove?

Bush's pandering to Fox is downright creepy, like something from The Manchurian Candidate.

Excellent piece. Thanks for posting. Until the GWB administration secures the borders there is no "war on terrorism", there is no "war on drugs" and there definitely is no "homeland security!"

"But immigration enforcement has not failed - it has never been tried. Amnesty, however has been tried, and it was a clear failure that should not be repeated again."
Exactly.
