CRANSTON - - Major General Reginald A. Centracchio, The Adjutant General of Rhode Island and the Commanding General of the Rhode Island National Guard, announced today that on Sunday, 18 January 2004, 45 members of the Rhode Island National Guard will join other National Guard troops from Connecticut and Massachusetts at the AFC Championship Game at Gillette Stadium. These troops will attend the game in recognition of their service to their country.

The tickets were donated by the NFL and the New England Patriots through Operation Tribute to Freedom, a continuing campaign to ensure members of the U.S. Armed Forces are recognized by the American people for their accomplishments and sacrifices. Operation Tribute to Freedom, which is based at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., distributed the tickets to a PRE-SELECTED list of service members in the Southern New England area.

Additionally, 25 members from both the Rhode Island and Connecticut National Guard will hold a gigantic American flag on the field during the National Anthem. “This is an outstanding and well deserved honor for our troops,” stated MG Centracchio. “We are grateful to both the NFL, the New England Patriots and Operation Tribute to Freedom for their generous efforts in recognizing the sacrifices our troops make on behalf of all of us!”

I love my Patriots. The Krafts certainly are crafty at their ownership. They have done an outstanding job with the team since they took over, and things are looking good for the future. Giving tickets to Troops is brilliant. Good for them.

Patsies should win tomorrow.

Yup.. thank god for Bob Kraft.

He even paid for his own stadium, instead of trying to pass it off the taxpayers.

You New England folks run a classy organization. The Patriots are what the San Francisco 49ers were in the 80s.

I'm still mourning my Packers loss waaa...

I've been a huge fan of the Patriots since the Grogan, Eason days.

Was quite p'od to see Bledsoe leave, but Brady has been remarkable.

GO PATS!

Pats got their work cut out for them. Peyton Manning is shredding defenses left and right. Just ask the Broncos and the Chiefs.

He's only thrown about a dozen entire incompletions so far in the playoffs....Pats are ripe for an upset Titans played them good right til the end.

Peyton has been shredding swiss cheese.

Watch those highlights from KC... not a defender in any camera shot.

Indy should have won that game between the Patriots and Colts back in the regular season. How can you not score at the goal line? I mean, run a bootleg or a QB sneak or something. Trying to get it past big Ted Washington he's not moving you might as well try moving a wrought iron gate.

I love that retro Patriots' logo! I think it's better than their new one.

They're (the Patriots) are even classier than those arrogant 49ers back then. No comparison - the Patriots are hands down the best run football organization.

Mr. Brady and the Boys certainly are putting the ghosts of Jim Plunkett to rest.

If my son in The Stan had a VCR he would be nagging me to tape the game for him.
