"It will take a different President than Bush to fix the Illegal Immigration problem."

One that thus far has never materialized, so I'll take the opportunity that this President has put on the table, and start addressing the issue, while you wait to see whether Jesus or your ideal president shows up first.

"in the meantime, I think the House Conservatives can keep Rove from making the situation any worse than it already is."

You wait on a President that's never materialized, and can't seem to get the current president's name straight...the primary reason why people like yourself never get anything done is because you can't accept reality.

Tantrum Tom's best showing thus far, is a bill with 9 co-sponsors that died a slow death and never made it to the floor, yet you think that he'll stop an incumbent President leading his Party.

You can throw your little "Rove is really running things" tantrum all you want, it only makes you look foolishly naive.

C ya!

You don't get it - at least 70 House Republicans will vote against the Bush Amnesty plan - and that is an absolute minimum.

By comparison, only 25 House Republicans voted against the Medicare bill and that one barely passed the House.

The President's bill is DEAD despite the wishes of the Aztlaners.

Sorry if it breaks your little heart, but the House GOP isn't going to pass this bill.

If you don't like it, why don't you contact the Chairman of the Immigration Subcommittee, and arch Illegal Immigration opponent John Hostettler who can explain the facts of life to you since you're obviously living in dream land:

The Aztlaners ( and I am not talking about Luis here, he has more sense than that )have become very prominent in Government. They are not just a dozen or so kids meeting somewhere on a college campus in Northridge, CA.

P.S. sorry about the comment Luis, I just feel that you are disengenuous on the immigration issue. BTW, my mother was a Mexican immigrant.

"he has more sense than that"

That's also debatable.

And what's also debatable is how influential the Pro Illegal Immigrant wing of the GOP is.

If the Open Borders people can't get anything passed in the Usually loyal House of Representatives, then they're influence is limited only to this particular President.

And unfortunately for Louie, the President doesn't pass laws.

No, actually, YOU don't get it.

Instead of voting against this "plan", these people should be seizing the opportunity, and crafting a viable plan.

You, like them, are too shallow to actually see the opportunity that's been laid out for those courageous enough to take action. There was no need for Bush to put this issue on the table, it's a non-starter, but he did anyway, and the idiots that fail to jump on the chance to make some headway, and instead make the choice of voting in favor of a status quo that sees this problem growing more and more out of control each day are, well, they are idiots who lack sight, and leadership qualities.

The Bush proposal was real simple, it's an order for Congress to act, your idea of acting is voting to take NO action.

Brilliant.

I'm disingenuous because I don't tow the far-right wing line on this issue?

I was brought to this country by a man and a woman who lost everything imaginable to a regime that allows for no dissenting voices, we left our ancestral home because the freedom to speak our mind without fear was far more important than the dirt generation upon generation of us sweated, and bled on.

I say what I believe in, and the consequences be damned, let others engage in a popularity contest, or throw out idiotic phrases, I back up everything that I believe with facts and figures, you don't agree with them, that's fine, it's your prerogative, but I speak my mind on this issue as I do all others.

Yes and a congressman at that. Looks like he forgot who his constituents are.

What advantage does this proposal have? It solves NOTHING! All it does is encourage even more illegal immigration by 3rd World welfare dependents - these Illegals very nearly bankrupted the state of California.

The status quo is preferable (For the intermediate future) to making the situation worse.

If you don't like it go bitch and moan to Hostettler or Sensenbrenner.

You have some sort of idiotic notion that the Congress is there to stop the President's proposal.

The issue is on the table, it's up to Congress to reform immigration, so it's up to Congress to wrote the changes to the laws!

You want Congress to vote against what exactly?

There is no "Bush proposal" working its way through Congress for House "conservatives" to vote on, there can't be because PRESIDENTS DON'T WRITE LAWS!!!

If you can't understand something that basic, you shouldn't be allowed to cast a vote!
