You are correct, it is definately an anti-Morris piece instead of anti-Bush. Nobody could be more anti-Bush than Bush himself. People have horribly short memories, not remembering the '92 election, where the only one who torpedoed Bush Sr., was Bush Sr.

Jr. has cleaned up only one of his father's major screw-ups, finishing off Saddam. But he has balanced that with his stance on immigration and his pursuing of the Clinton criminal conspiracy (you guessed it, sarcasm).

Dick Morris is legendary for shrewdness and political acumen.

Allan Wall, what a joke. Morris is shrewd except when his article doesn't mesh with Wall's narrow minded agenda.

Great piece. I read Dick Morris' fantasy piece in last Thursday's New York Post and thought of posting it here but didn't have time. While this article is critical of Morris, Pres. Bush probably agrees with Morris.

You know, one of the worst things about this amnesty proposal is that it gives truth to the lie that the GOP is a creature of Big Business.

Who benefits from cheap labor? Business. Who is the GOP looking out for? Business. So, millions of hard-working Americans get a push to vote for the socialist DemocRATs, because of this.

Republicans: The Stupid Party and we're cowards too.

Morris is working for the Clintons again, who are paying him to give suicidal advice to the GOP.

Cha-ching! The truth shall set you free!

Just damn.

If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...

Allen Wall lives and works in Mexico; his letters and articles always give a clearer view of our problem with that country. What he says here is 99% correct. It is Dick Morris that opined that President Bush's proposals were mainly for votes - that is what Clinton would have done, but I don't think President Bush's motive was for votes but the Morris view has taken hold.

Immigration from south of the border is an enormous, complex problem that transcends vote getting. Mr. Morris feeds from whatever troth feeds him best.

As Senator Kyl said "If we are not enforcing current immigration laws, the question naturally arises: Why would we be any more likely to enforce new laws? ...... he is right on the money. We are NOT enforcing law in fact our law enforcement people are having their hands tied with federal red tape to keep from deporting the illegal; partly political correctness and partly lack of funds to deport these people. Try to get your local law enforcement, if they are involved in any way, to talk about the mess of deportation. It is an eye opener.

I heard a retired immigration official talk, I beleive on Rush's show, that said, " The Democrats favored hispanic immigration because they viewed the immigrants as potential democratic voters, and the Republicans favored immigration because it provided cheap labor." This is a pretty tough nut to crack.

I further believe that we are not a nation if we cannot control our borders. IMHO

This arguement against immigration was proven wrong over one hundred years ago.

History repeats again.

I sure hope FReepers wise up.

In fact, Hispanic women have higher rates of both out-of-wedlock births AND abortions than white and black women!

I've read that its the other way around, that black women tragically have more abortions than any other ethnic group, adjusted for total population.

But his analysis in “Hispanics : Key to GOP’s Future” is erroneous and misleading.

Okay, so people are now looking for reasons to exclude Hispanics from the GOP tent... how absolutely stupid, ridiculous, juvenile, shortsighted, and lowbrow is that?? Damn, there are sooooo many ignorant people out there.

The truth is most Hispanics are nominal Catholics, with the same social and moral pathologies as whites and blacks. In fact, Hispanic women have higher rates of both out-of-wedlock births AND abortions than white and black women!

Another (positive) stereotype down the drain!

(1) Morris wasn’t thinking very hard when he wrote it , or (2) Morris is working for the Clintons again, who are paying him to give suicidal advice to the GOP.

Why shouldn't both be true. Morris doesn't have to think hard anymore, and he has been in the Clinton camp then, now, and will be in the future.

The fact that he has any traction with the Republicans at all speaks well of him, but very ill of them, as bankrupt thinkers and leaders.

Why would lower-income Hispanics support the GOP? Democrats can always outbid Republicans in offering more public benefits. The only way for Republicans to win that game is to be even more leftist than Democrats.

They're giving them a run for their money.
