> We would still be in the stone age if not for these fools, as you call them
You would be amazed at how many of the great scientists were Christians. When a modern day scientific specialist makes a provable or disprovable hypothesis in his or her area, they are doing good, and this contributes to the recent advances you mention. But as cosmologists, they are fools.

At first it was funny. But when it got personal it ceased to be funny. Toughen up.

> Remember, without the "fi" Von Braun might not have dreamed of space flight
I'm sure many have thought of space flight who didn't care about science fiction. But that's not really the point. My point was that talking about creating an underground colony on Mars sounded kind of juvenile. And I do NOT give you my permission to take money out of my paycheck, on pain of losing my house and being imprisoned, to build an underground colony on Mars. If you want an underground colony on Mars, pay for it yourself.

I am afraid you misjudge me. I am all for looking forward to the future. And for making personal sacrifice for future generations. I just do not see this program as the way to do it. I find that hard to believe given your views on space exploration. Space is indeed the final frontier, and we must move out to new worlds, colonize them, and make them our own. That will be our emphatic answer to the question "are we more than just apes with DVD players?"
PS. I resent your insinuation that I am anything like the criminals known as the Clintons.
Criminals? I am not aware of them being convicted of any crimes. Perhaps you could enlighten us.

If you want an underground colony on Mars, pay for it yourself. We'll pay for it with tax dollars. It won't be the first colony that we support with tax money, and it certainly won't be the last.
And frankly, I don't care if you'd rather the money go to some welfare queen or AIDS "victim". Too bad. It is going to Mars if I have any say in the process.

of course in that light you could argue "the law of probabilty, math., science or not?

Is there a vaccine against stupidity yet?

Does the human need for oxygen, and the lack of it on Mars, mean anything to you? Using this reasoning, I guess we should have never explored the oceans of our own planet.
Nope. My reasoning would not have stopped exploring the depths of the sea. Different scenario entirely.
Why, because it was closer and convenient?
What potential benefit will discoveries on Mars bring considering the logistical nightmare involved. I am not talking mere convenience vs. inconvenience here.
But it seems you are.
In another post you say "I am all for looking forward for the future".
You do understand that one day in the distant future our own sun will exhaust it's own fuel supply. It too has a shelf life, as does our planet. Or is that a little too distant in future for you?
Are you just concerned about the future for your life time? For next 50 years? The next 200 years?
What about the future of the human race many years from now?

You have to be kidding me right? A semi-defense of the Clintons on FR? I am not defending the Clintons. You called them criminals, and I'd like to know what crimes they have been convicted of. Last I checked, neither of them haven't had so much as a jaywalking ticket in their lives.

What about the future of the human race many years from now? That's too esoteric of a question for the "what is in it for ME right NOW" crowd....

Let me try one on you.
Without the adventure into space, the moon and Mars, many of the advances in technology would not have been possible. Because of those programs, most of us would not be the recipients of modern conveniences.
What we develop for the "New Frontier", we will enjoy here on Earth to make our lives better.

It truly is a miracle that we made it out of the Dark Ages, isn't it?

You don't have to be convicted to be a criminal. Criminal acts are good enough...

Your inability to articulate what the Clintons have done wrong certainly lends credence to bonesmccoy's earlier remark.
