Precisely. Remember, on the eve of the Gulf War in 1991, what did Saddam do with one of his most important military assets, his air force? He transferred it completely to Iran. Why wouldn't he do exactly the same thing prior to the start of Op. Iraqi Freedom? Everyone -- us, the Brits, the French, the Germans, the Russians, the Chinese, the UN -- acknowledged that Saddam had WMDs. David Kay and his group have found an infrastructure (labs, personnel, etc.) of an active WMD program. Why would Saddam keep around the capability to produce bio- and chemical weapons if he'd decided to destroy them all after Gulf War I? These naysayers never address that. Fact: He had the capability to produce WMD. Fact: No WMD have been found. Conclusion: He either hid them so well that they may not be found for years, or he shipped them to neighboring states. Oh, there are WMD all right, and the fact that we haven't actually located them is the troubling thing.

My thoughts are that it's human nature, to take our freedoms for granted. one never appreciates something of value until it's gone. The liberty we enjoy has been won by those who often gave the supreme sacrifice, like this boy in Iraq. I think not just of those at the sharp end, Omaha Beach or whatever, but people like the unsung heroes who spent countless hours staring at a radar screen at some Godforsaken NORAD base in Alaska, for example. Their contribution infers a obligation on the rest of us to repay a debt. If you don't repay your debts you are without honour.

Thankfully, we don't have to risk life and limb. It might be something as simple as freeping a poll, calling a talk radio station, or writing a letter to the editor. Anyone doing those kind of things is repaying their debt, in a small way. You personally have done so much more that I put you in the first category- we owe you.

Here is my take on how many non involved voters (mostly centrists) arrive at voting decisions. When I started looking at this 30 years ago it blew my mind.

In 1992, I went around asking my co-worker what the ten most important issues in the election were. I then asked them which candidate supported their side of the issue best. Only a couple had Clinton at more than 3 in 10. Yet when asked who they would vote for, overwhelmingly, the answer was for Clinton. When asked why, I'd often get some form of "he's for the people". "You?" "No." "What people?" -blank stare-

Women tend to be drastically less informed than men. Democrats less than Republicans...and Independents even less.

At the time, it was already clear that Saddam didn't have any weapons of mass destruction.

That is a very simplistic, and fallacious conclusion. In fact Saddam did have such weapons.

I could very easily have been in the same position as that parent of the hero who was killed. My son was very involved in the early stages of that war, and in fact was nearly killed. Nevertheless, I supported the war in Iraq, and I also support action against other regime that would threaten our way of life.

We are talking about survival here. These primitives who have engaged us in Jihad, know no sort of honor at all. They shoot down freaking Medivac Helicopters for crying out loud.

Saddam has used WMD against his own citizens, and to enunciate the ridiculous platitude that there were no weapons is sheer audacity. A professional journalist wrote that? Perhaps that Writer might want to consider some of the tapes and images that have been widely available for years which display the results of the weapons of mass destruction that Saddam did not have.

When the terrorists do attack one of our cities with a biological or chemical weapon are people going to say that it was not a WMD because it was not a nuke?

My son is not yet of age... it will be a few years before he is. If it were his decision to go into the military, and he were killed, I don't know how I would handle it... I'm sorry for this man and women's loss, and the loss of all those grieving parents... God bless and comfort them. I am grateful for the courage of the young men and women, and for our country

Tator, I read your link, and you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! And that's the reason I tell people to drop words such as, "Vote for Bush, he really cares about the people in this country.'" Or, "He's protecting us from the terrorists."

As you said on your link, so many people don't really know the details about what's going on in politics and they vote on IMPRESSIONS! The liberals are very clever with their impression-type sound bites against Bush. But a word from someone they know and trust can change a vote in two seconds flat.

Another thing: Some people actually go to the polls undecided. Just one little voice resonating in their ear from your words can help them decide to vote for Bush.

Good article, except one point. I don't believe she ever met a parent of a soldier who died on an airplane. In the first few weeks there were less than 100 soldiers dead, out of about 100 million parents, the chances of this woman meeting one of these parents when a magazine fell out of her lap is astronomical. Of course it is possible, except that I have read countless articles like this in the past few years. Every reporter seems to have an uncanny ability to wind up on the very small end of the large statistics scale. In other words, she made it up. Good article on Bush and the way Americans feel about him, but I doubt she ever met that man.

Great piece. Thanks for the post. I hope many others read it. The leftist clap-trap pumped out daily by the lame-stream media is not the world that most Americans see. The picture painted in this story is the real deal, and America will stick with Bush because they understand what's important.
