Sorry, but that's how the confed. flag is most often perceived. When I was a kid a rainbow banner was just a rainbow banner(or Mork's suspenders.) Now it is most often perceived as a symbol of the gay movement. Like it or not, that's just how it is.

Hey, it was a Confederate Flag the protestor was waving, so why didn't Howie break into "Dixie?"
Had be done so and since he recently got religion, that would only leave him to come out of the closet and start packing a .44 Mag for him to get with our Southern God, Guns and Gays mentality.

"...the Confederate flag, a divisive symbol of racism and slavery in the South.
That's funny. I was taught in school that the Confederate flag was a symbol of the Confederacy and that it was a symbol of states' rights superseding federal authority.
Yes, it's true that the symbol was stolen by a bunch of filthy racists and propped up as their own. That doesn't mean it is, though. If it does, then the peace symbol should not be tolerated because it is a divisive symbol of anti-Americanism.
FWIW The flag we most often see is the Confederate Battle Color not the flag of the Confederacy. I wouldn't expect these people to know any better anyway.

We have become a society that puts emotional connotation ahead of factual denotation. I fear for the future.

.....can a doctor prescribe valium for himself? He certainly needs some medication, but no, he can't, not without getting in a whole bunch of trouble...and the powers that be would probably frown at wifey Dr. Judy prescribing it for him either:)

Yes, indeed, no media bias at all there, not in the slightest. [barf] That article was so slanted that I was shocked it wasn't posted in italics.

Or maybe Dean refuses to recognize the hecklers' right of free speech? No, that would only be the case if a conservative were speaking. Then, the standard applies without question. It's the leftists prerogative to decide what standards are applied where. /vomit

I sent Reuters an e mail and advised to change the headline to a phrase involving "the Star Mangled Banner" as the song Dean sung.

Sorry, but that's how the confed. flag is most often perceived Here is one Yankee who never associated the Confederate flag with racism. To me, it just stands for southern pride, like any other regional pride. It's not as if the southerners were Nazis.
