On The Reading List (no, it's not an exhaustive list. Please.)
Money Of The Mind - Grant. The most readable, coherent, witty and accurate analysis of the present financial crisis -- written during the last one.
The Age Of Turbulence - Greenspan. A must read, but if you think his talks are dry....oy.
To Reach The Clouds - Petit. Lost track of how many times I've read this and seen the movie based upon it, "Man On Wire." Beyond inspiring.
Train of Thoughts - Anonymous. "Arguably the most influential blog ever." The only blog I read.
Born Standing Up - Steve Martin. The master's fascinating story.
Modern Fascism: Liquidating the Judeo-Christian Worldview - Veith. A particularly timely title.
A Man Called Intrepid - Stevenson. If this book isn't your heartbeat, you're not a patriot. Another critically timely read.
Orthodoxy - Chesterton. Warning: Chesterton will make you think.
Mr. Blue - Connolly. Don't bother, you probably wouldn't get it.
Planned Chaos - von Mises. A convincing argument that "economic interventionism" leads to Nazi-style socialism that ought scare the bejeezus out of everyone. Unfortunately, a timely piece published a generation ago. See where Rand got her ideas, and read them without her idealisations. .pdf here at no charge.
"Red Eye Radio" -- No, you can't read it, but you can listen. It's thankfully bumped "Coast to Coast AM" on WABC. This is a very tentative and tenuous plug. If he turns out to be schmoe, I'll yank it in a heartbeat.
Understanding Media - McLuhan. If you want to know where the "information revolution" is in the scheme of things, read it. McLuhan saw it coming 50 years ago. It was he who coined the phrase, "Global Village."marshallmcluhan.com Didn't know you could be used by technology to reproduce itself? McLuhan shows you how. Yeah, he was sort of an intellectual Salvador Dali.
