Keep Sharp Eye on John Edwards

On Tuesday, I made the following statement: I'm going to dispense with all of the buildup and cut to the chase right now: Keep a sharp eye out for John 'the Breck Girl' Edwards. This guy will win. I know he's a trial lawyer, but it won't matter. He - not Clark and not Kerry - is the one who will win, and perhaps pick Hillary as his veep." This statement brought the phone calls and e-mails pouring in. I rolled a portion of the Edwards "victory" speech in the audio link below, and said that his griping about children going to bed hungry will really resonate. Edwards talked about "two Americas," twisting Ronald Reagan's "shining city on a hill." I mean, he doesn't leave his $8 million Georgetown mansion to see all the fat kids at the mall, and doesnt bother to read the daily news stories about the "obesity crisis" among kids - so voters probably don't either.
One caller rang me and said she heard Edwards drawl that he could win the South thanks to his accent. I told her that he could compete. This led to more calls with more people disagreeing with me - until finally, some loyal Dittoheads caught a whiff that something was afoot. I just can't put something over on this audience for a whole show anymore. I used to be able to, and I came close today,

I thought Rush was joking but the class warfare works pkus trial lawyers are not despised as you may think. Watch Jerry Springer and see what commercials come up. A bit scary.

I disagree. People hate ambulance chasers.

Rush beat me to it.
That is my assessment also.
Edwards "looks" more presidential, than any of the other Dems.
Considering how much people go on looks and perception, I think that he may well be the Dem nominee.
Just wait until they start showing pictures of him with the US flag behind him, looking even more presidential.

I agree w/Rush, again.
Dean is a fruitcake (even Dems say so in DC).
Kerry's body language is vulgar to Southerners -what a phony!
Kucinich is too short, too ugly and too intelligent (but of course, he'd probably make a great president).
Edwards is selling 'hope.' His website doesn't list any agenda. Nope, nothing. He will blow like the wind on any subject.
Therefore, the sheeple will love him.
Bland, young, Southern accent and cute. Probably how he became rich as a trial lawyer.

John Edwards can move out of NC for all I care. He has not really been interested in our state's welfare since he was elected Senator in 1998. His eyes have always been on the White House. May he lose BIG TIME!

I have said this since the day I first laid eyes on this man. He really could be President. He is the best choice the Dems have, really. He is hansome, nice, had guts enough to say that he was against homosexual marriage, when all the other candidates said they were for it...and he is very intelligent.
He is everything that Gore isn't. He is dangerous to the Republicans. Very dangerous. Especially when the press starts to publish the stories about his wonderful son's tragic death. Sympathy votes will definately come his way.
Americans will start thinking that we could have another "Camelot"....
His showing is very bad news for us.

Edwards is selling 'hope.' Out of Clinton's "playbook": the man from Hope!

I have one question for all you who a worried about Edwards. Why is he so disliked in his home state of North Carolina?? Their is something about this guy that turns voters off. He has chinks in his armor just like all the others.

americans are fascinated with laywers. most of the nightly cable TV shows discuss everything having to do with trials, laywers, legal maneuverings, etc. many prime time network TV dramas center around lawyers.
To: jim35
Here's my take.
1. The Democrats cannot win without the south.
2. Kerry, Dean, and Lieberman, Northeastern liberals, will never fly in the south.
3. Clark claims Arkansas, however, he is looked at as Clinton protege. That fact alone, if it be made known, will doom him in the south.
Who has a shot at doing better than any of the rest in the south but the Breck girl? Which makes him the only one who might possibly beat out Bush in the General election.
Rush is right.
To: Bombard
Gore didn't win his home state in 2000 either, but he still nearly stole the presidency from Bush.
I think we shouldn't underestimate Edwards -- if the Dems see he could have a chance against Bush, the entire Dem machinery will go into overdrive supporting him. With that and his presentable appearance, he could be a serious opponent.
Of course, I hope the Republicans will show Bush in the flight uniform a few times, and that will blow Edwards away.

I disagree with Rush. Edwards is the man to beat. If he is beat, whoever rises to the top won't be any more than a propped up mannequin, and even a pulling out of all the stops (a la Clinton in 1992) by the mainstream media to air brush that person for prime time couldn't create a victory. Their best shot is Edwards, and that ain't saying much.
To: Bombard
I have one question for all you who a worried about Edwards. Why is he so disliked in his home state of North Carolina? Because they know he is a phony. So did Arkansas voters know Clinton. Didn't keep Clinton from winning a national election.
