NEW YORK (Reuters) - The much ballyhooed engagement of movie stars Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck has been officially called off, a spokesman for the singer/actress said on Thursday.
"I am confirming the reports that Jennifer Lopez has ended her engagement to Ben Affleck," Lopez's spokeswoman said in a statement reported by PEOPLE.com.
"At this difficult time, we ask that you respect her privacy."
The celebrity couple were supposed to marry last September but at the last minute called the wedding off, blaming the postponement on the media frenzy their planned nuptials had created.
Since then they have been seen together in public many times, although there were widespread rumors that they were splitting up.
The couple also suffered a severe disappointment when their first movie together, "Gigli," was universally panned by critics and flopped at the box office in the summer
The newsbabe on MSNBC said she's been seen with P-Diddy of late.
She's got a jones for that black thug thing.
