Sigh.
I know you are right, and I refrain from feeding the trolls on several other issues I have prioritised.
I am just shell-shocked at the number and names of FReepers whose opinions I have respected for several years, supporting national suicide for short term political partisan gains.
I find it sad that as an Independant, I am more conservative than the Republican party.
After CFR, and the Trent Lott Trashing-I stopped defining myself as Republican.
Time for another nationwide tea party.

I guess it beats waking up and smelling the reality.

I know what the reality is, momma.

"Time for another nationwide tea party."

It might just be. 40 more years of liberalism to wake up the right again. Damn.

Why? Does the Truth hurt? But I do have to say you have the DU debating tactic of name calling and ignoring the issure down pat.

Please everyone note that I tried to move this debate to FRmail but he refused.

Everyone will note that debating offline is gutless.

Good night. I'll let you have the last word.

"And just how do you propose rounding up and deporting 8-10 million people who don't want to be found."

"I don't. I propose infiltrating 1,000 employers and then fining them $50,000 per illegal and seizing their businesses. I mean if it's good enough for the local sheriffs in the WoD, then it should be good enough to help Homeland Security in the WoT."

Now finally -- THE perfect solution.

Never underestimate the willingness of the Stupid Party to pander to voting blocks who vote against them.

The voting block being pandered to is big business, not Hispanics. Bush is giving them carte blanc to lower wages to the legal minimum then bring in third worlders to do those jobs "Americans don't want".

I suppose I should be joyously thankful that illegal immigration only jumped to 38% higher than last year in my area since the great announcement was made. Of course I'm trying not to think what it will be like when the weather improves.

You're exactly right. Briliant strategery on Dubya's part.

I had mentioned this a couple of times when the news first hit but the noise in here was so deafening that I just gave up.

This has likely been GWB's strategery from the start. Court the votes of a particular sector with a plan that is going to fail to pass through Congress. He ain't no shrub and he ain't no dummy.

"Court the votes of a particular sector with a plan that is going to fail to pass through Congress."

Wishful thinking isn't it?

In the meantime while all this "courting" is going on, we've got a migrant invasion in progress.

I hear ya. I got tired of being called names and bowed out. I figured this was his (Dubya's) strategery and he hasn't lost a hand yet in the poker game he is playing with the dems.

We've had one, have one and will have one and and no plan by the Gubmint other than putting money into the departments we have and enforcing the laws on the books is going to stop it.

Everybody was convinced that SCOTUS would declare most of it unconstitutional.

No, we weren't.

If you were, you were wrong. You're wrong now, as well.

The Bush Amnesty is even worse than CFR. If you don't like the fact that there are people on this website with a better grasp than you have of what's at stake, don't click on the threads.

Another thing: why do you excerpt every bloody article you post?

Can you add "pointlessly excerpted by quidnunc" to the headlines, in the future? If you do, I'll know not to click on the threads.

As it is, the STOPTHEEXCERPTS keyword is about half you.

It was a political move. There's no support for it.

Hilarious, thanks.

I love unintentional irony.

Jim Jeffords. CFR. Judicial filibusters. Section 245(i) Amnesty.

C'mon, he's a good President, but he's plenty human, and plenty fallible.

FR observes the fair use doctrine, and other than sources subject to the LAT/WP settlement, is able to post articles in full. It's neat. It's fun. It's convenient.

You want to be a preening nuisance? Cool.

Why not at least put "(excerpt)" in your headlines, so that we know not to click on your threads?

And it's all bollox.

Fair use does not apply to Free Republic; if it did it wouldn't have had to settle with the WaPo and LAT.

Go the the Stanford University Copyright and Fair Use Center and do some reading.

Then look over the Terms of Use Agreement you made with Free Republic.

That settlement didn't give up fair use for the site in general.

If fair use didn't apply to FR, why didn't the judge rule it didn't? The fact that there was a settlement cuts both ways.

The reason why we have Freepathons, and not subscriptions, is in large part to maintain the viability of fair use for FR.

Go the the Stanford University Copyright and Fair Use Center and do some reading.

Then look over the Terms of Use Agreement you made with Free Republic.

JohnHuang2 and kattracks are moderators here, and they post articles in full all the time. Why do you think that is?

Why do you think there isn't a requirement that all articles on FR be excerpted?

You misunderstand the application of fair use to FR, and your unnecessary excerpts are an apple-polishing nuisance.
