Whatever the terminology--men are not getting married at the rates they used to in nations with laws like our own. I won't pay half my salary to my ex-wife till I die.

All you Evangelicals want to save the instituition of marriage? Save the men from the divorce and child custody laws.

Aside thought: From what I hear in such marriages gay men both work and have no kids so divorce won't mean much to them but to a hetero man it is a killer.

A friend of mine said "Why live with a room-mate I can't stand and buy a house for a woman I hate?" He's still single, but because he dabbles in cheesecake photography on the side, he's always got some attractive female hanging around.

Side note: I've met a semi-celebrity Playboy model (now on TV) when they were doing her original submissions. Weirdest thing in the world to be scanning through proof-sheets of a beautiful naked chick while she's sitting next to you asking your opinion about her pose/figure.

I agree, divorce is a killer. You have no choice in your losses, your children are gone, and your money and possessions are gone. Then for the majority of the rest of your youger life, THAT is controlled to the point of virtually being gone too.

If I had to do it all over.. I would never get married.

Nobody is forcing us men to get married. If some men don't do proper due diligence, they shouldn't blame everyone else...

Men need to be more careful in who they marry.

I'll use my ex-boyfriend as an example. He dumped very nice girls (me and another girl). We both had marriage on our minds. Both of us girls have been happily married.

He picked some other girl to marry. He walked in on her in bed with someone else. They are not married anymore.

He was stupid. He had 2 chances to do it right, and he screwed up.

I'm grateful because he's a jerk. I smartened up and found a nice guy who's the love of my life. We've been married for over 12 years.
