I know from personal experience that FRESH SQUEEZED orange juice is extemely effective in preventing colds and flus. I used to get extremely sick every winter and 12 years ago I had such a bad cold that it took me about 4 months to shake it. No cold medicines seemed to work. Then I started squeezing oranges and drinking the juice. Almost immediate results and I RARELY have gotten sick since then. I believe that vitamin C is BEST absorbed from either eating oranges or drinking fresh sqeezed orange juice.

BTW, what is a good source for fish oil as well as zinc in the FOOD form? How about pickled herring for the fish oil? What about the zinc?

No one has mentioned "Naked Juice" which is just fresh juice, bottled. I love the Tangerine.

I don't do soda; I try to avoid corn syrup. The only tea I drink now is herbal (no caffeine). I drink at least 40 oz of water per day.

I limit my red meat, usually eating turkey or chicken.

Well, I have recently started eating low carb -- and cut out orange juice -- and for the first time in years, I am sick as a dog. I can't stop coughing, I have been sneezing, I have a headache, and I am tired and weak all the time.

Consequently, I think I will return to drinking a lot of orange juice, because when I did, I was never sick like I am now.
