Is it safe yet?
No sooner do school and county officials say they've stamped out asbestos at an El Dorado Hills high school, it seems, than evidence to the contrary flares up.
In the latest rekindling, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said earlier this month that it found high levels of naturally occurring asbestos where foot traffic and sports activities could kick up the mineral's cancer-causing fibers, creating a potential breathing hazard. The federal agency collected the soil samples a week after education officials waved state air test results as proof that Oak Ridge High School is safe.

It will keep coming back until another moritorium on development is issued, like it was due to fabricated water shortage hysteria in the early 1990's!!!
Eldorado County has a highway running through it to skiing and gambling on the way to Lake Tahoe and it creates an obsession amongst Sacramento Government Lovers to "preserve" (read suffocate or mummify) any and ALL BUILDING ACTIVITY that ruins their "viewshed" from US 50!!!
Eldorado County has a river running through it that has become dominated by the above mentioned commercial whitewater rafting industry and an aggressive Land Trust/Conservancy that are just as obsessed over potential building on their viewshed FROM THE RIVER!!!
This has absolutely NOTHING to do with any real threat of the type of asbestos found in this county to children, or anyone else!!! We also have naturally occuring Arsenic that all of Sacramento's water supply runs through as the drunken rafters pee in it, that is something else that these idiots keep trying to "stirr up!"
It's getting too stupid to spend any time responding to!!! We might as well not have any local or state govenment when we are told we cannot trust them to protect us from such false scourges!!!

Back in 1994 when conservatism was on the rise and there was even malitia movements startin up all over the place... The guy that was the commander of the El Dorado County Malitia, who quieted way down after the OKC bombing, got all upset about asbestos bein in the serpentine gravel on his Community Service District road.
He got asbestosis while buildin ships down at the naval ship yard in Vallejo durin the big war and he got so upset by this series of articles by this idiot in the BEE, that he called in the EPA!!! Now remember... This anti-federal government commander of the malitia called in the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT guys with their moon-suits to pave over the serpentine gravel road!!!
This kind of abject inconsistency can even be observed amongst conservatives right here on FR and it just cracks me up!!! It doesn't just happen with a few beer drinkin red-necks up on the backwoods Georgetown Divide in El Dorado County, CA!!!
Scares the crap out of me!
