Two CNN Employees Killed in Iraq
Associated Press
BAGHDAD, Iraq - A driver and a translator-producer working for CNN were shot and killed Tuesday by unidentified assailants outside Baghdad, the network said.
CNN said in a news broadcast that the pair was returning from an assignment in southern Iraq in a two-car convoy that came under attack in the outskirts of the capital.
It identified the two men as translator-producer Dureid Issa Mohammed and driver Yasser Khateeb.
A CNN cameraman in the second car was grazed in the head by a bullet but was safe, the network said. It said correspondent Michael Holmes was also in the car along with several other people but none of them was hurt.
It gave no other details.

I wonder if CNN will now want to go after the terrorists or tuck tail and run.

I'll bet CNN won't refer to these uncivilized animals as terrorists even though it was their own guys that were killed.

While the personal aspects of this are tragic, I don't think it is unfair to note that CNN (by its own admission) had spent years cultivating an "arrangement" with the Baathists. The two victims most certainly didn't deserve to die. It's long past due for CNN to come out and acknowledge the fact that they were tacit supporters of the same people who are now murdering their own.

Sometimes, when you are paying evildoers to launch a missle at an inbound USA aircraft so you can have some good tape for the broadcast and the Pulitzer application, things can go wrong, terribly wrong. You'd think that after all the scandals at the NYT about the reporters reporting things that didn't happen, these news manipulators/manufacturers would learn. I guess the chance of making Bush look bad was just too much.

Terrible. I have some friends whose son went there as a translater and he was shot dead in the street by a sniper for no reason at all. We gotta rid the planet of these barbarians.

In case anyone cares, the names of the two guys that were killed were Duraid Isa Mohammed and Yasser Khatab. A third guy, a cameraman named Scott McWhinnie, was grazed in the head by a bullet but is still alive.
