SAN FRANCISCO Tim Bueler started the Conservative Club (search) to balance what he calls the liberal bias in his public school, but when some schoolmates found his views offensive and threatened to beat him up, the 17-year-old claims the principal and teachers turned the other way.
Bueler started the club at Rancho Cotati High School (search), about an hour north of San Francisco, to draw support for the war in Iraq, among other issues. About 50 teenagers now attend club meetings.
But a recent issue of the club newsletter, Conservative Agenda, has riled some students -- and teachers -- who claim Bueler is nothing but a young Nazi (search).
In the newsletter, Bueler calls for a crackdown on "every Muhammad, Jamul and Jose who wishes to leave his third world state to come to America, mostly illegally."
One teacher posted a flier encouraging students to "take a stand against the neo-conservative wing nuts who call themselves Americans." The principal suggested that Bueler go home for a "cooling off" period.
Bueler defended his inflammatory rhetoric, saying: "We feel that liberalism is a mental disorder and they attack family, faith and country and military. And these are bullies we're dealing with and we need to fight against them and this is why we've come out so strong."
The school district has launched an investigation and promises to take disciplinary action against the teachers, administration or students if warranted.

Glad these kids are standing up for themselves. There might be hope after all. I still find it funny that liberals espouse free speech, but that only applies when you agree with them. Sounds like Communism to me...

Considering the location I wonder if it's a gay school. This is just like the girl who started the Caucasion club. Time to get your kids out of those public churches and teach them at home people!!!!!!

In the newsletter, Bueler calls for a crackdown on "every Muhammad, Jamul and Jose who wishes to leave his third world state to come to America, mostly illegally Well, they did screw this up. "Mostly" illegally? If they'd just said "every Muhammad, Jamul and Jose" who wish to come here illegally (omitting the mostly part) everything would be fine. But it reads as if he wants to crack down on legal immigrants too, and that's just stupid.
This is a crystal clear example of why communication skills are critical when debating politics. This clumsy sentence probably took a kid with the politics of a Reagan and turned him into a Buchanan, at best.

We feel that liberalism is a mental disorder He is too kind. Liberalism is rooted in conscious, deliberate evil.

One teacher posted a flier encouraging students to "take a stand against the neo-conservative wing nuts who call themselves Americans." That teacher needs a lawsuit. That's not the role of teachers, to ridicule one of their students.

while i support what this kid is doing, his methods seem to leave a little to be desired. while he believes in what he is doing, there are certain ways to express your views. it seems he makes these statements simply to get a reaction and then when he gets the reaction, he cries foul. just take a little bit out of the inflammatory nature of the writings and put forth your arguments in a clear, concise manner. don't lower yourself to name-calling. that is what the other side does. we're bigger than that.

San Francisco? I'm surprised that the kid is still alive.

Well spoken criticism, and for a 17 year old, who is wet behind the ears, this is a good start, and an experience he will learn from. The removal of classic Latin and Greek rhetoric and oratory courses, and their replacement with public speaking courses catered to Liberal tendencies have causes the problems this kid has today. That might sound old and stodgy, but the fight over memes will win or loose the debate in the public square. I didn't learn that until my early twenties, he's 17, and well on his way to understanding the power of the written and spoken word. Good for him.

It's not San Francisco. The school is located in Rohnert Park, a town in Sonoma County, about 45 miles north of San Francisco. I live near there.
I find Bueller a bit too rash for my taste.(Of course, all I know about him is what I've read and heard.) His emotionally-charged statements and writings are easily used against him by the leftist dogmatics that infest the public school systems. I think he needs to tone his rheoric down a bit. Other than that, I support him and his club 100%.
A couple of teens from my church are part of the club. The stories you read about teachers giving them a hard time (and encouraging other students to do so) are true. One of the teens agrees that Tim can be brash and needs to think more with his head than his emotions. (Hey, he's only a kid.)
My son (FReeper sonofdemnomo) is homeschooled. He is a conservative, but doesn't care for Michael Savage or Bueller's tactics. He is trying to reach Tim via a church friend to clarify some remarks Tim has made. My son is not looking for a fight--he just wants to meet Bueller in person to get a better perspective (other than the biased media and left-wing educators) about Tim's outlook and future plans.

Repeating a post of mine from an earlier thread...
Sorry, but I'm really tired of all of the Freepers who are ready to give up on our school system and run away. I fully intend to send my daughter to kindergarten this fall, and if we really want our schools back, we can get back inside, get involved and do everything we can to take them back. It's this, or we just give it all up and watch the country go to hell in a handbasket. Then maybe we can give that up too and just pack up and go to Spain or France or somewhere.
