Wisconsin Fight To Override Veto Continues
Friday, January 30, 2004
As we reported last week, despite the support of the majority of the legislature, rank-and-file police officers, and the people of Wisconsin, on November 18, Governor Jim Doyle (D) vetoed legislation that would allow law-abiding Wisconsin citizens the Right-to-Carry firearms to protect themselves and their loved ones.
Regrettably, Governor Doyle does not trust his law-abiding constituents with the right of self-defense. The Right-to-Carry legislation requires mandatory training, a permit from the sheriff, and a criminal background check. Even polls by Right-to-Carry opponents reveal that a majority of Wisconsinites support this law.
Fortunately, the citizens of Wisconsin have one final opportunity to let their voices be heard on this vitally important issue. On February 3, the State Assembly will vote on whether to override Governor Doyle`s veto of the 2003 Personal Protection Act. The State Senate overrode the veto on January 22, so this is the last chance for Wisconsinites to influence this vote. At this critical time, it is more important than ever that Wisconsin residents contact their Representatives and ask them to do everything in their power to ensure the override of Governor Doyle`s veto. In particular, there are two lawmakers who have not committed to the override Representative Gary Sherman (D-74), and Representative Amy Sue Vruwink (D-70). It is crucial that you contact these lawmakers, in addition to your own, and urge them to vote to override the Governor`s veto. You can contact Rep. Sherman at (608) 266-7690, or toll free at (888) 534-0074. Rep. Vruwink can be reached at (608) 266-8366, or toll free at (888) 534-0070.
It is also vitally important that supporters of this measure rally at the State Capitol building on Tuesday morning prior to the 10:00 a.m. vote. For a map of the area and parking information, please visit www.ci.madison.wi.us/parking/parking.html
Please take action, and then forward this information to your family, friends, and fellow firearm owners and ensure that they do the same. You can find additional contact information for your Legislators by using the "Write your Representatives" feature at www.NRAILA.org

Freep this poll. These two clowns (Murphy and Bulter) in the morning have been blasting CCW and Dave Zien all along.

I'd say turn up the heat on the rural Democrats from deer country. Remind them their constituents want this law. I'd say given enough time, it will pass the Assembly and become law. That's why the Assembly's GOP leadership is holding back a final override vote. A couple of days delay won't hurt.

I would love to see our numbers way up. Yesterday, they were blasting Zien for not listening to and representing his constituency. I got news for them - he is!!

Oh yes, I forgot to mention...According to these two, the NRA and their supporters are "gun nuts" of the derogatory nature. Right in line with Vast Right Wing Extremists.

Thanks for the support.
Our nanny Governor can have all the armed protection he wants, but me, no way. I can just call 911 and hope the cops show up instead of the medical examiner. I pray that some day soon we have the protection of the 2nd amendment like you have in Texas.
A little of your warm weather would be nice right about now too!.

hehe...nice work!
This Assembly battle is going to get very interesting
Stay warm (and armed!)

"A little of your warm weather would be nice right about now too!."I heard this tinkling outside last night. It sounded like the pouring of broken glass. I went outside and discovered the atmosphere froze and fell out of the sky. Had to grab a shovel, bring some in and toss it on the fire to keep some fresh air inside. It's thawing a bit this morning.
