You are fundamentally misunderstanding what the BBC means to the average patriotic British person. All this stuff about commies has no relation at all to the reality, which is this.
The majority of British people love their BBC and are tremendously proud of it. Insult it and you insult us.

There was strong opinion over the war here, but it was divided about 50-50. Opinion is at least as strong over this and isn't nearly so divided. Left and right both grew up with the BBC and are very angry indeed that it has been attacked and humiliated for Blair's political convenience and Rupert Murdoch's commerical advantage.
