The one that bothered me the most was the potty mouth kids who were cursing "Holy S#%$" over seeing a Chevy.
I don't think it's funny when kids curse with the crudest of vulgarities.

From what I understand, the people in the stands were totally turned off during the halftime show. All the enthusiastic crowd they kept showing on TV was a mob that was paid by MTV to stand on the field and act thrilled.
So I wouldn't be surprised to hear the streaker was hired. The media is constantly trying to manipulate the viewer, the real shame is they get by with it so often.

I didn't see the show. Now that I finally saw the clip over on Yahoo.com, I cannot believe this was accidental. Whether it was cooked up by the two stars themselves (they have known each other since 1998 when he and NSYNC were opening her Velvet Rope tour) or not, it really doesn't matter. As someone else said, why was she wearing a star thing underneath?
I do still believe this is much ado about very little. It's the law that I have to allow women to breast feed in public. Even at the table in a family restaurant. I find that disgusting and uncivilized but it's the law. With so many kids having been breast fed, and grown men and females being intimately aware of a breast (which wasn't even entirely naked) why is this causing a stir? The prudishness is silly.

I'm a male in my 50s and the horse fart commercial put me on the floor. I laughed so long I missed the other commericals in that segment. I'm still ROTFLOL!!

LaraCroft, I wasn't trying to insult Kid Rock or his fans.
And I agree that most "artists" today are awful, including Kid Rock. I think he sucks. But that's me. I know lots of people dig him.
When I wrote what I did about him, I was trying to encapsulate in as succinct a manner as possible his persona, his metier, his message, to readers who may be unfamiliar with him, and that it was curious how the self-imagined patriot doesn't even know how to treat the flag.
And that's what he was wearing. It was a flag with a big hole cut in it. Not clothing.
Finally, how do you imagine Kid Rock is "doing a bit better" than I am?

I used to think how silly all those people were who said Elvis shaking his hips on Ed Sullivan would eventually lead us here. I guess they were right after all.
To: NorCoGOP
I saw it too! It was on FNC, and I totally lost it.

make the football fan your target audience, not some jackass with an IQ of 70 on a good day and an IQ of 80 after he's got several hours worth of alcohol in him. There's a difference?

Re your post 26, you and others are having a good chuckle on this but I hope some MD weighs in to tell you that this is a serious medical condition. Untreated, it renders the person unable to ever get an erection again and there are additional medical problems associated with it (sorry but though I once knew its medical name, I cannot recall it now).
It may sound funny but it ain't.
To: OldPossum
The condition is priapism. To quote from a medical directory: "Prolonged priapism usually impairs erectile function permanently." Now, isn't that a scream?

I'm sick to death of reports about US culture being presented as the Sodom and Gommorah of the world by these juvenile MTV morons.
Sad to think that the Super Bowl can and will be an Al Qaeda recruiting tool against the "great Satan".
God help us all.

Thank you! I made my point!
The incoherence of my rant reflects the incoherence of our national mores.
MTV is cool and hip then it's an outrage then it should be investigated then it's too white now it's too hip hop and street...
No wonder our kids are so screwed up...the adults are all working at cross purposes and can't figure out their own moral positions.

I thought it was cute. You've got to remember that with cable programs such as South Park and such...this is normal humor now for kids.
By those standards it was a cute ad...not offensive to me.

I know decency madame and this society is not conducive to it.
This culture is about the almighty dollar. Screw everything else.

(Note to NFL: When P Diddy is your classiest performer at the halftime show, you have a real problem.)
To: Diddle E. Squat
BTW, I am convinced that the streaker was another stunt planned by MTV. The guy is well-known in Europe for streaking at big events, was the subject of a Nike commercial, and just the kind of stunt MTV loves to pull off. With all the security, he had to have inside help to get his credentials.I think you're absolutely right.

I don't know how TV contracts work. That's a fact. I can't believe, however, that the NFL does not have the power to dictate standards and expectations. Of course they do. And if they failed to do that in their contract negotiations with CBS, they are culpable and should be held accountable; in the court of public opinion anyway.

What I meant is this. While you are writing what I considered to be bigoted statements about him, he is going on stage and singing about how much he loves America and how proud he is to be one.
He is bringing patriotism to young people, and making it 'cool' to love your Country.
I'm glad you weren't trying to insult him, I guess you didn't mean to. I'm not trying to excuse his behaviour, although I'd rather be staked to a fire ant hill rather than have to watch football, half time show or not, so I'll just have to take your word for it. I have had several emails from Patriots, in the service who were NOT offended in anyway by his actions.
