Good one:
McAuliffe is to politics what MTV is to Superbowl halftime shows: Low, tacky...

That's definitely heroism, but antiwar protests, Jane Fonda group pictures, while our troops are engaged and POW's are interned and never come home is chopped liver buddy. You take your pick, I'll take mine.

Show me how or where President Bush either proclaims or portrays himself a hero.

I don't know as any hero proclaims himself a hero. Kerry comes as close as any. Bush is proclaimed a hero by various supporters. Most heros are unknown, that act on the spur of the moment in emergency situations. I know of no case where Bush has been a true hero. Kerry probably fit the bill but his actions after returning home negated the heroic actions he made in Vietnam. While our troops were still engaged in combat and many captured and held prisoner, encouragement of the Viet Cong was traitorous.

Your #86 contradicts your previous:
One man portrays himself that way and the other says he is a heroe.

Sounds possible:
McAuliffe has long been a candidate message-killer so much so that the anti-Clinton wing of the Dems suspects he's programmed to take down anyone who gets in the way of Hillary's potential run in '08.

TB, I made the original statement that neither individual had the credentials to portray himself as a hero. And I asked you where Bush, or ANYBODY around him called him a hero. Of course you ignored the question and continued to beat up on this pathetic strawman.
You keep saying that Bush's service doesn't entitle him to be called a hero. Yep. But that is a moot point because he hasn't been called one.

I don't know as any hero proclaims himself a hero. But earlier you said this:
One man portrays himself that way and the other says he is a heroe.
Well? Which is it?
Bush is proclaimed a hero by various supporters
Please post some evidence where someone around Bush has said that his service in the TANG makes him a hero.
