The much-anticipated opinion sets the stage for next Wednesday's Constitutional Convention, where the Legislature will consider an amendment that would legally define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. The bishop of Worcester mandated a postcard campaign for all parishes in the diocese supporting a vote on the constitutional amendment. Pre-printed postcards addressed to state reps and senators were provided in the back of church, priests urged parishioners to sign them, and the Church provided postage.

This is driven into the public by Ms. Marg. Marshall-a.k.a. Ms. Anthony Lewis (New York Times)
They remain eager to hoist their agenda come November, too.

Time for that long awaited defense of marriage amendment, Mr.President. Remember who votes for you. You shouldn't have waited. The sexually dysfunctional will continue to push their vile lifestyles onto the rest of society. As president, you should have been aware of their history.
If Bush drops the ball on this one, the social conservatives will be furious. So far, I think he's hoping to win 2004 by default - where we don't vote for him (because of his trying to buy Democrat votes), but simply vote against the worst of two evils - vile Democrats.
Maybe he should re-think that gamble.

I remember when the feminists were trying to get the Equal Rights Amendment passed. Opponents claimed that the ERA would open the door to recognition of gay marriages. Proponents said that was ridiculous, that no court would ever construe it that broadly.
It turns out that some courts didn't even need the ERA to "find" a constitutional right to gay marriage.
Every man has an equal right to marry a woman. Every woman has an equal right to marry a man. No man has a right to marry another man. No woman has a right to marry another woman. That is where the equal rights analysis should end.

These judges should be recalled or impeached. But I suppose only the citizens of Massachusetts can do that, and they are the people who have repeatedly voted for Teddy Kennedy and Barney Frank. Even after Kennedy publicly murdered his girlfriend by leaving her to drown when a word from him could have saved her. And even after Barney Frank ran a male prostitution ring out of his Washington offices.
If any of these justices are Catholic, they should also be publicly excommunicated. But I won't hold my breath.

If I were running for President from the "Great State of Massachusetts"..... I might not think this was especially good news. I mean it might play well in Massachusetts, but most of the country won't approve of it.
Seems pretty easy to tie a presidential canidate from such a liberal state to these type of liberal rulings.

This is the senate and house committees that have the Federal Marriage Amendment.
This is at www.house.gov and www.senate.gov
These members count the letters of support.
There are now enough states to pass this due to the fact
they individually have DOMA's.
The FMA will take the Federal Gov. out of the marriage
definition game and put it to state legislatures.
This includes Federally making marriage one man one woman for immigration matters.
These members count the letters of support.
Homosexual special interest groups are trying to organize letter campaigns.
This includes internet and (oddly enough) nightclubs.
This is very doable.

BELOW IS A FORM LETTER TO SEND TO THE SENATORS AND HOUSE REPRESENTATIVES
RE: Support in favor of the Federal Marriage Amendment
H.J. Res. 56 and S.J. Res. 26
Dear [ Decision Maker ]
I support the Federal marriage amendment. As you constituent I urge your support to amend the Constitution. Specifically, please cosponsor support H.J. Res. 56 and S.J. Res. 26 when these resolutions should come up for a vote. As you constituent I urge your support to amend the Constitution. Specifically, please cosponsor support H.J. Res. 56 and S.J. Res. 26 when these resolutions should come up for a vote.
This amendment will remove the courts from redefining the marriage based on social activist judges. This will also protect our state from any actions taken or will be taken in any other state. Private sexual behavior should not be the standard which defines marriage. Marriage is a public institution which is how we raise and support societies children. This institution needs protecting by putting into the Constitution what we have today.
This is not the first time the constitution has been used for social issues. All of the Constitution is based on various social issues. This only codifies what exists now.
This amendment will remove the Federal Government from this issue and return this topic to the individual state legislatures.
Any same sex couple has the legal right to make a private cohabitation agreement, they have the right make powers of attorney and have the right to make health care surrogate directives. These form documents are readily available for nominal cost or free on the internet. Non of these agreements require any special lawyer help. Marriage under the law is one man and one woman. There is no sexual behavior test. Homosexual rantings to the contrary, their opposition is only attempting to impose public acceptance on what should remain a private consensual behavior.
Please support the support H.J. Res. 56 and S.J. Res. 26, amend the Constitution and protect marriage.
Sincerely,
[Your name]

Look on the bright side. This might not be a bad thing. Give them a generation of the left marrying their own gender, and they might not have very many voters left.
They've already reduced their ranks in young voters thanks to birth control and aborting their babies.
