Kerry is an insult to the uniform, period. He lauds his military record, tosses his medals over a wall, votes against funding the fine brave men and women of our outstanding military in Iraq, and insults the Commander In Chief and the NG, yet he wants to be POTUS?

Bush is what amounts to Kerry's boss, and in the corporate world, Kerry would be out on his keister looking for a new job.

Mike is completely right. And so are you- an apology is owed, but to expect it is another thing entirely. Dems don't even know what doing the right thing means, although they speak a good game.

Thanks for your service! As mad as it makes me, I can imagine those of you in the Guard are even more mad. I cannot believe anyone could be so callous to make such statements.

The Tulsa ANG flew the no-fly zone in Iraq from the time that it was declared until the beginning of the Gulf War. Guess they forget about the F-16's out of Bush's former Squadron at Ellington that escorted AF One on 9/ll and handed it off to the Tulsa ANG. There is an Army National Guard unit out of OKC that is just being deployed to Iraq.

Was at Kelly AFB for 8 years and the Texas National Guard F-16 squadron along with the C-5 Reserve Squadron were always flying. A lot of people assigned to both were active duty Reserves and Guard.

The Guard and Reserves are a vital part of our National Defense since the Active Duty was cut so much! Without them, the military would have no means of carrying on this War against Terrorism IMO.

I have no idea! He wasn't a pilot so wonder what he experienced. Don't even know what he was in the Navy.

First thing, I do not like Kerry. He was Jane Fonda's butt boy, and still is. He marries harridans for their money. His Bronze Star does not appear to me to be earned from what I read about the incident. The Big Boys who support him are the worst there are.

The National Guard and Reserve are busy in Iraq and Afganistan, though the risk there is very low compared to Viet Nam (my war), they are away from their families, etc. During WW2 the Guard 32nd Infantry Division was put into the most brutal possible combat in New Guinea long before any regulars were committed. Those boys really earned their pay.

During the Viet Nam war, draft dodging, going to Canada, faking psychosis, homosexuality, enrolling in ROTC and then pulling out, like Clinton did, were all considered about the same thing to the Viet Nam guys. And so was the Guard and Reserve. I do not remember anyone in the Guard or Reserve who was not defensive over being a dodger. That is just the way things were.

The Guard and Reserve were impossible to get into after 1966 unless you had truly heavy political clout, since all the connected dodgers wanted to get in all at once. Again, this is just the way things were.

This point of view may be offensive to some, but that does not change anything, since what happened is what happened, and liking or disliking what happened makes no difference. I don't like what happened either.

ADA rating higher than Ted Kennedy

Last night on Hardball with Chris Matthews, Kerry said he was the most moderate of all the Democrats on the campaign trail.

The Hill, Jan. 14,2004

http://www.thehill.com/news/011404/gephardt.aspx

The little-noticed law, 2 USC Sec. 39, reads: “The Secretary of the Senate and the Chief Administrative Officer of the House … shall deduct from the monthly payments (or other periodic payment authorized by law) of each Member or Delegate the amount of his salary for each day that he has been absent from the Senate or House, respectively, unless such Member or Delegate assigns as the reason for such absence the sickness of himself or of some member of his family.”

The ACU. . . plans to target Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), who missed 237 votes last year, 59 percent of the total.

The Washington Times, Jan. 15, 2004

http://washingtontimes.com/national/20040115-120724-2359r.htm

The ACU. . . demanded that Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts and Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut repay 59 percent and 54 percent of their salaries, respectively.

New York Post, January 30, 2004 Friday

According to the Congressional Budget Office, President Bush's 2004 defense budget - $470 billion - is the largest [defense budget] in U.S. history. Kerry was absent for that vote.

(of course, Kerry lied during the January 29th debate, saying, "I have voted for the largest defense budgets in the history of our country," though the record shows he missed that vote." The New York Post, January 30, 2004).

GANNETT NEWS SERVICE, November 25, 2003

Regarding the Medicare vote:

"Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of North Carolina, two of Lieberman's rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination, attended Monday's procedural votes. Edwards voted against final passage of the Medicare bill on Tuesday and Kerry missed the vote to campaign in Iowa."

The New York Times, November 24, 2003

Regarding the vote on the Energy Bill

"In addition, given the narrowness of Friday's vote, it would be useful if three senators who missed the vote -- each a sworn opponent of the bill -- would actually show up when Mr. Frist tries again to shut down the filibuster. The three are Ernest Hollings of South Carolina and two candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination, John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of North Carolina."

And so on, and so forth.

The bottom line is, Kerry has put his campaign above his constituents. He is an AWOL Senator who has deserted his constituents in Massachusetts to further his own, selfish political interests.

Guess we could turn it around on Kerry and tell the lowlife that we need a President who knows something about fighter jets. That leaves him out.

Everyone who has served in the military needs to spread the word about this despicable man that is running for President. Time to take the gloves off!

FYI -

Excerpts from the AP - 1 May 2003 - so you know who's protecting Kerry's flank:

The "Doghunters" are on the prowl. The band of Vietnam veterans who have been protecting John Kerry's political flank since 1984 will be canvassing American Legion halls and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts in coming weeks to mobilize support for the Democrat's presidential bid.

So began the Doghunters, a group of a dozen-plus Vietnam veterans who traveled through Massachusetts to make the case for Kerry. They've done it in every Senate campaign since and plan to travel to New Hampshire, Iowa and South Carolina to push Kerry's White House candidacy.

"We're sort of brothers in blood, that's why I support him," said Wayne Burton of Durham, N.H., a retired Army captain and president of a Massachusetts community college who has been swayed by the group's campaign. "For people of my generation who have children who might be put at the risk of war ... I would prefer to have someone in office who understands how awful combat actually is."

- snip -

Still, the Doghunters press ahead, determined to build support for a fellow veteran.

"I think we can put together the largest veteran organization ever to support a political candidate," Hurley said. "The message is simple: We want a veteran in the White House."

LEAVE KERRY ALONE!

I warned everyone in December to lay off Howard Dean then he imploded. Let's wait for Kerry to get the nomination before we go after him. Kerry is the next best thing to Howard Dean. Give the guy a break for a few more weeks!

With Lieberman's withdrawal from the race yesterday, he may actually have been correct - but that just shows how far to the left the Dims have moved.

I knew people from the Texas ANG who were active duty including my neighbor.

OK ANG is the same way -- they fly all the time. This is the first time in years they haven't been overseas.

I don't care for Kerry either but you are exactly right. During the Vietnam War guys didn't join the National Guard because they were so eager to serve the country; they joined to avoid going to Vietnam while not actually dodging the draft.

Somether points are also in order. Even if an individual was in a unit that was not currrently posted to Nam, he was still at risk of being so posted. All it took was orders, so people in the Guard were at risk of service, just as people in the regular Army.

Also unmentioned by the creeps who're bringing this up is that this was during the Cold War when the U.S. was constantly at risk from nuclear attack. Who was there to protect us while the regular Air Force was fighting in Nam? The Air National Guard, of which W was a member.

Hate to burst your bubble since you two are so proud of your comments, but I have two friends that were killed in Vietnam and guess what -- they were members of the Army National Guard and were foot soldiers. Their Guard unit has served in every war! It is one of the first called up! Suggest you two find another place to carry on your trashing of people that served in the Guard.

What makes you think that ANG were not in Vietnam flying?

This is from Alabama about their National Guard in Vietnam:

From 1968-69, 12,000 Army Guardsmen and 10,511 Air Guardsmen were called to serve their country. Over 9,500 Guardsmen were sent to Vietnam. Once again, the National Guard demonstrated combat-ready professionalism, earning over 4,000 decorations during the conflict.

Guess I could go down state by state and show you two about all those people in the Guard that served in Vietname. Both of you should be ashamed!

See Post #79. You people are dead wrong -- many Guard units served in Vietnam. It would do you good to do a little research before dishonoring the brave men and women that have served in our Guard units.

Any Guard unit in this Country can be called up at any time to serve overseas in a time of war so joining the Guard was absolutly no assurance of not serving in Vietnam.
