Critics Decry Method of Massachusetts Marriage 'Madness'

(CNSNews.com) - Many people who oppose same-sex marriage also object to the way in which it is being foisted on the people of Massachusetts.

Four "out-of-control, left-wing judges" should not be allowed to force homosexual "marriage" on Massachusetts citizens, the Christian Coalition of America said.

Decisions overturning centuries of tradition should be left to the elected officials who represent the people, the group indicated.

"Christian Coalition agrees with Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney when he said, 'We've heard from the court, but not from the people. The people of Massachusetts should not be excluded from a decision as fundamental to our society as the definition of marriage,'" the group said in a press release.

The Christian Coalition of America urged the Massachusetts State Legislature to "thoroughly ignore" the court ruling ordering the commonwealth to pass a law giving same-sex couples full, equal marriage rights.

Roberta Combs, president of the Christian Coalition of America, also urged the U.S. Congress to schedule hearings in both the House and Senate before the George Washington Birthday recess - and to take a vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment before July 4.

"After today's decision by this rogue court in Massachusetts, now -- more than ever -- is the time to pass the [Federal Marriage Amendment], the group said.

'Arrogance'

The Campaign for California Families also blasted the "rogue" court in Massachusetts.

"This shows why some judges need to be recalled or impeached," said CCF Executive Director Randy Thomasson.

"When four arrogant jurists in black robes literally dream up homosexual 'marriage'
and impose their subversive plan upon the people, it is cause for patriotic men, women and voters everywhere to rise up and take back their government," he said in a press release.

The Campaign for California Families also urged the Massachusetts Legislature to "resist these out-of-control judges and act immediately to defend the sacred institution of marriage."

The Campaign for California Families is fighting a "gay marriage" bill that Assemblyman Mark Leno, a San Francisco Democrat, plans to introduce next week.

CCF also wants voters to know which candidates for state and federal office have signed a Marriage Protection Pledge, and "therefore can be trusted to protect marriage for a man and a woman."

The solution is impeachment, if they have the guts.

After all, they are legislators with power, are they not?

They turned it upside down?

Has anybody seen what passage in the Massachusetts constitution they say justifies their decision? None of the articles I've seen quotes it. I'd be interested to see how tortured their reasoning had to be.

If, for example, it could also be used to justify polygamous marriage, or incest.

How did those four judges get on the MA bench? That is a great question. They were aided and abbeded by liberal college professors, liberal politicians and liberal traitors.

What is doubly sad about the whole homosexual agenda is that homosexuality remains a serious public health concern. New AIDS cases are mostly occurring among young homosexual men who have tired of so-called "safe" sex. Observing that the AIDS epidemic did not spread to the heterosexual population as predicted by obedient liberal organs like Time and Newsweek - which never happened principally because of facets of heterosexual lifestyle habits in the West - homosexual men are not curbing their lifestyle sexuality.

Temporary successes of drug-"cocktail" treatment of AIDS has lulled many into a falsely complacent acceptance of active sexuality. Unfortunately, that success will change into frustration as retroviruses mutate in the pool of active homosexual participants. As antibiotics stimulated evolution of strains resistant to antibiotic therapy, so will current treatment modalities for AIDS, unless continence replaces promiscuity in the prevalent homosexual lifestyle.

The suicide rate for homosexual men and women is significantly higher than that for heterosexuals, even in a society highly tolerant of homosexual lifestyles, according to a Dutch study. That suggests a spiritual malady expressing itself psychologically in the homosexual lifestyle. Little mention of the problem of suicide in the homosexual population leverages the tragic sense of acceptability of the lifestyle.

Finally, the fact that change is possible, even if only for a small portion of the homosexual population, is refuted as hateful propaganda. The reverse bigotry of the critics of therapy for sexuality change strongly impairs dissemination of the successes in professional literature.

These few facts are only a small part of the public health menace of unbridled sexuality. Marriage will not reduce the dangers, since marriage implies societal endorsement of a certainly dangerous lifestyle. Criminalizing homosexual behavior is not the answer, but encouraging a serious contemplation of the consequences of such choices is positively advisable. Total acceptance of homosexuality as a healthy lifestyle is a policy blind to serious public health consequences.

You are correct. Impeachment, relentless impeachment: win or lose, impeach another one. Eventually things will change.

It's getting the first one started that's the problem. For the Federal Judiciary, we need to pressure Hastert and DeLay to get started on two or three of the Ninth Circuit asses. Or they could really play hardball and start with a couple of the Supremes. Maybe the two women.

Hamilton in Federalist LXXVIII A VIEW OF THE CONSTITUTION
OF THE JUDICIAL DEPARTMENT IN RELATION TO THE TENUE OF GOOD
BEHAVIOR. CITED MONTESQUIEU on the intended scope and power
of the Judiciary. Jefferson was one of the strong leaders
who had the courage to Ignore the judiciary when they usurped their powers.IF the Mass. State would simply Ignore
the invalid Court mandate the Court would have no power.
I have written my State and Federal politicians calling for a State constitutional amendment and for Federal amendment
to define marriage as between a man and a womanand to protect children from unjust judges who would mandate custody of minor children in homosexual households.

Why does the state of Massachusetts have a legislature? They don't seem to be performing any usual function, so why even pay them? The seven judges on the Massachusetts supreme court will make all the laws.

I recall the news story at the time of the decision said that they referenced the 5-4 SCOTUS decision last year that reversed an earlier SCOTUS precedent.

Three things are called for:
1. In regards to the court ordering the Massachusetts legistlature to act. The legistlature, (and the Governor) should do nothing. Ignore the court.
2. Put two referendum questions on the ballot for the next election. (Nov, 2004)
a. Do you, or do you not, want same sex marriage to be legal in Massachusetts?
b. Do you believe that judges of the highest court in Massachusetts should be answerable to the people in Massachusetts, either by having to run for election, or, if appointed, having to be first approved by the people, before taking their seats?

President's Statement on Massachusetts' Court Ruling
Statement by the President

February 4, 2004

STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT

Today's ruling of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court is deeply troubling. Marriage is a sacred institution between a man and a woman. If activist judges insist on re-defining marriage by court order, the only alternative will be the constitutional process. We must do what is legally necessary to defend the sanctity of marriage.

Too late, Once the cat is out of the bag, it is almost impossible to catch it and get it back in. So called "marriages" will go to other states and demand recognition there, or request divorces in other states. This is already happening now with Vermont's Civil Unions. Then when it percolates up to the Supreme court, they would go with the MA ruling and adulterate marriage across our land.

No, there is but one Choice in MA. And that is for the legislature to speak and impeach the lot. The enemy is at the gates and it's not time to hesitate anymore.

At the Federal level, the Constitutional option is the only hope. Pray that the President and and principled leaders would take up the gauntlet immediately before it is too late.
