In 1971, John Kerry was one of the leaders in the movement to pursuade the United States to surrender in Vietnam, at a time when we had finally begun to use the correct military strategy (let the Vietnamese fight on the ground, and bomb hell out of Hanoi). Millions of people died after 1975, because the US listened to John Kerry.

Kerry has the blood on his hands for millions of SE asians, that the US abandoned.

I certianly hope we bring up Vietnam this election.

Kerry's role in the anti-war movement after his return is one of several good reasons why he should never be President, but the whole Vietnam issue has to be handled the right way or it may wind up helping Kerry.

A large part of the voting-age public is too young to remember Vietnam. The Democrats will try to frame it as Kerry-who-served-in-Vietnam against Bush who didn't (by election time a lot of people may think Kerry won the war).

This morning Don Imus was talking to Douglas Brinkley, a professional historian whose specialty is sycophantic books about Democratic politicians...his latest is a book about Kerry. Imus was buying Brinkley's spin that made Kerry's involvement in the "Winter Soldier" movement sound heroic. The Republicans are going to have to play this issue carefully and start with the assumption that there is a lot of ignorance among the public about the Vietnam War and about the consequences of the anti-war activities.
