My kids haven't had to endure this either.
We found out the schools were doing this before they were school age. It was one small reason, of a great multitude of reasons, that we decided to home school.

If I had went to school and gave away the supplies my Dad paid for, he would have kicked my butt and then went to the school and raised hell.
