"The "Right" Side of Punk
As of January 31, 2004, ConservativePunk.com officially launches. The site has been created to educate, inform and increase the little known demographic of the Conservative Punk. This is not C-SPAN meets MTV; this site boasts conservatives from well-known artist Michale Graves of Gotham Road and former lead singer of the Misfits, to conservative talk show host and former rock jock Andrew Wilkow, to the average person on the street. This site has been created to counteract the multiple liberal punk sites on the web, which are run by only a small number of punk artists who are choosing to make up the minds of thousands of voters. Personally, I like Country and Rock and Roll, but I thought tidbit was worth mentioning and discussing.
Conservatives are not just in business suits any more! :-)

I'm as conservative as they come, but I definitely wouldn't say I fit the stereotype. This kind of thing is right up my alley.

Which stereotype? There are quite a few out there, many of them contradictory...

I love this website. I definitely don't fit the stereotype of the average conservative either--in fact, I get some of the most quizzical looks when people find out I'm a staunch pubbie (and have been since I was 18 years old...)
When I lived in the People's Republic of Boston, the reactions I'd get were priceless. I ran with the artsy/sophistihip set, most of them well-meaning but very misguided politically, and my look is very... well... not Peggy Noonanish, although I do own pearls now...

I've never understood the left-wing punks.
They are confused.
Punk has always been anti-fascist, anti-communist, and that means ANTI-LIBERAL.
Johnny Rotten is a Republican.
The Sex Pistols had an anti-abortion song.
And anarchy is just libertarianism and neo-liberalism taken to it's extreme. That is as right-wing as you can get. Just ask Milton Friedman.

Okay, I gathered these highlights from the columns they have posted. It is so heartening to find that the indoctrination program has failed where these young people are concerned. - NRT
Indicting The Punk Establishment - By Nicholas Rizzuto 1/2/04
The roots of punk rock are founded as much in conservatism as it is in liberalism. One of the founders of punk, Johnny Ramone said in an interview;
"To me, I think punk should be right wing. That's how I see it. The left wing is trying to destroy America by giving handouts to everyone and making everyone dependent on them. They only care about the voter base. They don't really care about anything else They don't care about anyone."
Johnny Ramone was and still is a republican. One of the forefathers of the music I love planted the seed from which conservative punk now sprouts. Conservatism, we can say, is part of our punk heritage.
(snip)
The liberal punk establishment is also guilty of using the typical left wing sources who time and time again show that their political ideologies are built as much on hatred, and/or wishful thinking than they are logic or reason. These sources include hate filled radicals like Ted Rall, the same man who portrayed NYC Firefighters and their widows as money hungry fiends after 9/11. So called intellectuals like Noam Chomsky who has so often revealed himself as a friend of holocaust deniers and anti-semites like Robert Faurisson(1). And "activists" like Michael Moore, an absolute disgrace whose fictitious documentaries are to the truth what Motley Crew was to temperance. A man who promotes a socialistic society having become a media millionaire in the capitalist society he so wants to change. The sense of logic is mind boggling.
Graves Column - By Michale Graves 1/9/04
(PunkVoter.Coms) efforts to "educate" their audience about what is really going on is an educational farce consisting of unqualified teachers espousing vulgar versions of Marx, Freud, and Reich. They are contributing to and feeding a fire that if not dowsed could have serious consequences to the security and future of our country. Their doctrine is dangerous and being set forth into naive minds.
(snip)
Rebellion against the center of society and its politics is nothing new to punk rock. The stakes, however, have become much higher than any other time then in the past. What happened on September 11, 2001 has forever changed the dynamic of not only our country, but our lives, and if not paid proper attention to, the politics and anti-politics of the young will become more and more dangerous to everyone and everything.
CLASH-DAY? By Andrew Wilkow
I hate to break it to you but the establishment is not the conservatives, it's aging hippies. Who do you think runs the schools, the media and Hollywood? Do you think conservatives created sensitivity training and free health care for illegal immigrants?
(snip)
They want to believe that conservative thought is to blame for every thing that is wrong with world all while trying to sell you a CD or a T-shirt, gather wealth and become everything they supposedly hate. If working hard for what you want, being self reliant, standing up for what you believe and being a patriot is looked down upon by the liberals then so be it. Punk was started by the working class as way to contrast themselves against the upper class fraudulent rich kid hip culture. Being a conservative does not mean being hateful, racist or sexist no matter what they tell you. It does mean being true to yourself and not selling out. It means standing firm but respecting the rights of other to disagree. It means reaching deep inside yourself to achieve what you want in life. Punk, however is supposed to piss people off, if you want to be a punk wear a t-shirt that says "CONSERVATIVE" to a show and see what happens.

I prefer "bodies" by drowning pool.
especially when used in the "Taliban Bodies" video made a while back.
If you haven't seen it, look for it on p2p or a web search.

I believe Joey Ramone once said, "all punk is conservative and should be" and he ranted about all the CRAP the left sells to the masses!
