(Note: National Rifle Association alerts 4 million members that hunting in Montana, Wyoming, & Idaho has been destroyed by wolves. Many thanks to John Zent, Editor of NRA’s American Hunter, and to Chuck Adams, for an honest article and for permission to post and share it. Those that still think wolves are warm and fuzzy overgrown housepets or attach a romance/mystique to them -- get ready for those pipe dreams to go up in smoke.)

I'd NEVER poison those critters. Poison does not leave ballistic traces, and if you were to use a slow poison they would most likely wander off your property before dying. So don't poison those wolves.

Don't do it.

You want to make sure to be careful with antifreeze as it could hurt the poor things.

Also make sure no stray dogs with distemper or parvo are around the wolf pack either. The poor wolves might catch the diseases and it could decimate them.

"an honest article"

The article sucks. It's a rammbling attempt to whine by someone that doesn't know what they're talking about.

I don't understand how the llama was killed, I was assured by one of our most renown animal experts of the FReepers on a previous thread, that all you had to do to protect your other animals is get a llama. Do the llamas actually protect the other animals by beating up on the wolves or are the other animals given a chance to beat feet because the wolves eat the llamas first. I need to know this because this is really important.

One thing which ought to be obvious to everybody is that when you get this yoyo-ing of deer and elk populations which the article mentions you lose genetic diversity since the elk herds will be rebuilding from a small number of individuals with each upward swing of the yoyo.

Our ancestors were not stupid people. They killed wolves out of the lower forty-eight for real reasons.

The Eskimos (yet another minority persecuted by whitey) smear knife blades with animal fat, then jab the knife handle first into the snow, leaving the blade exposed.

Wolfie comes along, licks the blade, lacerates his tongue, and since its so cold the wolf bleeds to death without feeling pain. The Eskimo then has a no-risk wolf kill.

Between whaling and wolf-hunting those Eskimos are the enviro-whacko's worse nightmare.

I think Wolves and Grizzlies should be "re-introduced" to Central Park in NYC. ;-)

On New Year's Day this year, I saw a wolf, less than half a mile from the Helena, MT Regional Airport. It was not an overgrown coyote (as the FWP agent dismissed it). It was less than 30 feet off the road, looked to weigh 100lbs and had YELLOW eyes.

Wolves = native species. Llamas = non-native species. I have a hard time working up sympathy for the llama farmer, somehow.
