Yes...Much like he "forged" his film. Though without the insidious, persuasive artistry of Leni Riefenstahl. That's why she was so deadly effective. Moore has no such talent to abuse. His first film "Roger and Me" was successful only because it was essentially the first time that confrontational technique was used in a documentary setting. If you watch in a post 60-minutes era it is only mildly interesting...A curiosity really. He really has nothing very profound to say other than "life sucks" and it's all because of "rich, powerful people". As a lover of film I find him profoundly offensive and lacking artistic integrity. There are so few documentary filmmakers, it's adifficult, almost niche medium...An oscar is a highly coveted prize that leads to potential funding for other projects. Still I think there is some truth behing his message that a lack of gun control causes the death of hundreds every year.
