She just turned a year last month. She is still very mischievous. She usually is in her kennel at night at the bottom of the stairs off the living room.
She's a pretty good watchdog. Lis had one of her friends over after school today and when he spoke in his deep voice, she starting barking like a big-dog on the patio. It's so funny because being a little 12 pound Westie, she has a yippy little bark...but when she goes into watchdog mode, her voice gets real deep and gruff!! And I rile her up, telling her, "Waaaatch...Waaatch him Gi!!" LMAO!

LOLOL!! She's a Westie? What is the matter with me? For some reason I thought she was a Golden Retriever, and that was how I pictured her! Now I have to readjust my mental image... unfortunately the pic (saw on my comments section where you tried to post it) is coming out as a red X.

The only thing I can say about putting them in a kennel overnight, is this: When our pup was in his first year, I took him to some trainers who turned out to be very, very good. They trained ME to train him! They had all sorts of tips on how to handle problems. One thing they said was, go ahead and put him in the kennel at night. This would help housebreak him, b/c confined like that, the dog won't want to mess so close to where he lies. They assured me that a dog doesn't mind being in a "den". Well, at first there was no problem, but as he got closer to a year old, he clearly no longer wanted to go in the kennel at night.

Finally we gave that up, and he was housebroken anyway, and he sleeps under the stairs now. But to this day, he will NOT go into ANY doghouse. I think it's b/c he developed an extreme dislike for confinement of that sort. This is inconvenient, b/c when he's in his pen, and it rains, there has to be someone to come home and put the fool in the house, or he gets all wet and miserable!
