GREEN WITHOUT ENVY (Howard Dean Ready to Bolt for Green Party)
The American Spectator ^ | February 9, 2004 | Washington Prowler

Posted on 02/09/2004 9:35:53 AM PST by bcopay

Former Vermont Governor Howard Dean and his advisors are looking into options that would allow him to run for President on the Green Party ticket should he fail in his bid to wrench the Democratic nomination away from Senator John Kerry.

Dean had been looking at the Green Party long before his campaign caught fire.

As early as late last summer, Dean was considering the Green Party as an option, particularly because at the time Ralph Nader, the Green nominee in 2000, appears lass interested in a run.

'This isn't a ploy to get the Democrats to pay attention to us, says a Deaniac in Washington.'

'This is about ensuring that our man's views and this supporters' views get carried into the fall campaign. A Green Party bid puts him into the debates with Bush and whomever the Democrats nominate. It keeps us viable.'

It would also, as the Deaniac pointed out, get the attention of Terry Maculiffe and the DNC pretty quick.

Dean is the first to brag he's brought in hundereds of thousands of new voters to the party-voters who would most likely would follow Dean to the Greens. He probably would generate more votes than Nader himself pulled in 2000, again dooming the Democrats to another loss.

Nader has not indicated what he will do in the 2004 camapaign. In the past three months he has twice pushed back a decision on whether he is running.

As we learned from the last democratic President, there is a big difference in what a candidate will say he's going to do, and then what he actually does.

[Giggle. Recompose. Normal Tone.]

I think that Howard Dean would be a great candidate for the Green Party.

In fact, I think he should definitely do it.

Let's see. Which Green Party ticket do I find most attractive -- Nader Dean or Dean Nader. LOL!

I'm on record for a few months now saying Dean would bolt to a third party. I believe this for no other reason than the man is spiteful and vindictive. He blames Terry McAuliffe and the Washington Insiders for his implosion so he will want to get back at them. Maybe Clark will be his VP.

Flush with excitement from garning 2.7 percent of the vote for Ralph Nader in the 2000 elections and denying Al Gore the presidency, the far left has pursued a convoluted antiwar agenda and pushed the primary process in 2004 so far to the left that the best candidate they can muster is a Massachusssets liberal who makes Ted Kennedy look conservative by comparison. Apparently even that isn't liberal enough for the Deaniacs. But at least their hearts are pure and untainted by that horrible compromising with moderates that is required to win the White House!

As much as I disagree with the guy, Dean has much more integrity than Kerry. Kerry has flipped on the Iraq issue. He had access to Intellgence data and essentially AGREED with Bush, but now he wants to paint himself as a Dean or Kucinich. The man is pure politics.

The other guys I mentioned are at least consistent about things they talk about. If I were a Deaniac, I would want him to bolt parties. I mean, the way the media crushed his campaign was also quite transparent... would have me so p!ssed off...

Exactly correct, the guys ego is off the charts.

He would be the focus of every debate leading up to the November election--the reporters asking him if he would drop out or not..

I bet dollars ro donoughts that Dean knows that the Clintons and Terry McAwful are behind his demise. He is probably pissed off about it and wants revenge, expesically after he laid the groundwork for Kerry. GO DEAN GO. GO DEAN GO!!!!

Finally, a Ross Perot for the Dems!

Fast forward to 2005...

- GWB is president.
- The Democratic party ruptures.
- We all smile.
