Same here! (and it was always in the dirtiest/muddiest place the DI's could find)

I'll say one thing though, at that time, without a tremendous amount of pain, I could easily do more than 200 situps.

Wish I were in that condition today. ):

Our DIs went for the sand flea pits. I went to my son-in-law's graduation at PI last August and was floored to find that they let the recruits use bug repellant!

I was an 0331, and was also handy with weapons repair and worked as the E-2/5 armorer for a year in the mid '70s. It was a Nice break from grunting.
