Intruder Shot but Furniture OK in Calif.

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. - A 53-year-old woman who fired nine shots with two handguns to ward off an intruder said she tried to avoid hitting her furniture.

"Priorities, right?" said Carolyn Lisle of Rancho Cordova. "It was one of those nights. I have a few holes in my glass out front."

The Sacramento County sheriff's department said William Kriske, a 47-year-old parolee, was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm, then jailed on suspicion of burglary and resisting arrest after he crashed through Lisle's sliding glass door Thursday evening.

Lisle's three guests fled the home, but she took action, opening fire with a .357 caliber revolver.

"He was like a mosquito hitting the window. Every time he turned around, poweee," she told the Sacramento Bee.

She emptied her first handgun as the intruder crashed through another window to escape, then retrieved a second revolver as he broke into her garage.

"I like to be prepared," she said.

She opened fire again as the intruder fled the garage and approached the house, wounding him.

Sacramento County Sheriff's Sgt. Lou Fatur said Lisle, a retired state worker who once worked as a correctional officer, won't be charged for defending herself with properly registered firearms.

The intruder tried to steal a motorcycle from a home across the street, but was chased off by neighbors who also had armed themselves to come to Lisle's aid.

As the burglar fled, one of the men yelled, "And that's just our womenfolk," Lisle said.

A California Highway Patrol officer stopped Kriske nearby, and he was arrested by sheriff's deputies.

"I don't think he'll be back," Lisle said.

With a 357 you only need one hit.

She probably could have hit the guy. I would guess she knows how to use a firearm however, she didn't want to clean the carpet afterwards...

I love her spirit, and after firing 9 shots and only hitting him once in the arm, she was doing mostly warning shots.

"He was like a mosquito hitting the window. Every time he turned around, poweee," she told the Sacramento Bee.

The intruder tried to steal a motorcycle from a home across the street, but was chased off by neighbors who also had armed themselves to come to Lisle's aid.

Somehow I think word may get around that that is not the best neighborhood to try robbing.:)

<... won't be charged for defending herself with properly registered firearms.>

Oh, I see, ..."properly registered firearms". Good thing she didn't use the one her Grandfather left her in the will twenty years ago. No mention of whether or not the firearm had the required trigger-locking device. I guess if it had, we'd be reading a different story.

Next they'll be passing laws prosecuting people whose firearms weren't properly stored (in a locked vault) or didn't have trigger locks properly installed ... when and "if" they survive an attacker.

Lets see... go to gun vault and open the combo lock. This takes let’s say 10 sec in a no stress situation (ever try it while being distracted?).

For a key lock (add time to find key and insert and turn same- another 5 sec.).

Next take out firearm of choice and remove the trigger lock (add time for finding the right key for and removing same 5-10 sec.).

Of course everyone knows "never keep a loaded gun in the house", so...

Now load firearm of choice (add time to get right ammo out of vault and load same (again try all this under pressure or the real threat of attack by intruder).

By now, odds are, the attacker will be on you and you may not have had time to complete all the above.

You are now reduced to fighting barehanded for your life against a probably still armed intruder wielding a pipe, bat or a knife.

But remember it's all for your own "safety" and for "the children".

Never you mind that...
"The Right or the People to Keep and Bear arms shall NOT be infringed."
or...
He that would trade freedom and liberty for temporary security deserves neither, and in the end will have what they deserve, ... neither freedom nor security.

We have to do it, it's for the ________ (fill in the blank minded reason here).

This reminds me of a story told to me by the guy who installed our alarm system (about 30 years ago).

It seems that one of his clients had a situation where one rainy night a girl was knocking at the door explaining that her car broke down and needed to use a phone. The husband was asleep in bed and the wife got the door. With the girl, two men burst in when the wife cracked the door.

The husband awoke with a gun pointed at his head. He immediately knocks the guy over and grabbed the loaded antique shotgun mounted above the bed. The guy ran out of the bed room and fired a shoot as he left. The husband charged. As he entered the hallway the second guy fired as he fled. the husband chased the men out of the house and dropped them in the driveway.

When the police came they asked why he did not return fire until his attackers were outside. His answer? He had just put white carpeting in the house for his wife, since the kids had finally moved out. Woken out of a sound sleep, he was more concerned about the carpet. Now heres a guy who deserves a Silver Star!

. . . William Kriske, a 47-year-old parolee . . .

The same old corrupt story. Too bad he didn't hit the house of one of those parole board members.

At 47 and still doing B&Es, this guy is beyong retraining and should spend the rest of his life in jail. That, or hopefully the next homeowner will be more accurate.

Hey, guys; this just occured to me this Morning;

What do you suppose is going to happen when some liberal jerk lawyer or Judge figures out that the 2nd Ammendment was to preserve a "Well regulated Militia", and that the Militia Laws of the time restricted Militia Membership to able bodied MALES between certain ages (18 to 45, I think-?-).

And so, I assume they might claim, the RTKBA is reserved exclusively for adult males, and females and "Senior Citizens" have no rights at all to be shooting anyone, much less "keeping and bearing" any means with which to do so.

Do you suppose that the ACLU, Senior Advocacy Groups, or NAGs will have a problem with that?

Nah; I didn't think so, either.

But just let the "Liberty Belles" get ahold of the poor idiot!!! (Nhyuch, Nyuchk..) }B^{D~
