PARKER, Fla. -- A couple who left three young children alone in a motel room while they went out to play bingo were charged with child neglect and marijuana possession, police said.
Officers said they found the children ages 6, 3 and 2 in a room at the Labrisa Inn Motel at about midnight Monday in this Florida Panhandle town. The 6-year-old led them to the marijuana and paraphernalia hidden in the room, police said.
Police later arrested Niyoka K. Campbell, 25, and Desjon L. Hegler, 19, both of Parker. Campbell received a conditional release Tuesday and Hegler was placed in a pretrial release program, according to Bay County Jail records in nearby Panama City.
The children were turned over to the Florida Department of Children & Families, officials said.
Jail records did not indicate whether the defendants had a lawyer and neither had a telephone listing in Parker.

The kid is a hero, the parents (unmarried) are zeros.

Unfortunately, it's not at all clear that the children are safer in the hands of FDCF, than they were in the hands of their sorry excuses for parents.

I am aghast! Dope heads acting irresponsibly? That can't be.
Also, this report must be a mistake as we all know that drug use is a victimless crime. The children were probably planted there by the DEA, or other self-rightous busybodies.

*snicker*
Narced out by your six year old. Serves them right!!!
Why is it that people don't get it? Children are a great blessing and should replace any desires for stupid behavior.

Parting words to the kids before Bingo night:
B good kids.
I am too selfish to watch you.
N joy the tv in the room.
G it's great to have a night out.
O that's nothing--just some oregano.

kids aged 6, 3, and 2 by age 19? great. You are assuming this gentleman is the father of all three of these children. More likely, he is the father of none of them.

With their odd names, which is the man and woman? It seems by the age of the kids, the mother is the 25yr old. I wonder if they won.

there wasn't much to go on in the article....except for referring to the happy couple as "the parents". (although I'm with you.....he's probably just a new boyfriend)

In addition to retirees, Florida certainly attracts some of the stupidest and trashiest people on the planet, Florida freepers and my parents excluded.
