Heinz was a Northeastern Republican and not as conservative as those from other parts of the country. Teresa, a foreigner, became a Republican by marrying Heinz, and a Democrat through her marriage to Kerry. It's doubtful she had established opinions about US politics before arriving here.

But more to the point: Teresa is a ditz. If you've seen Arianna Huffington or Zsa-Zsa Gabor, you know the type -- flighty, given to enthusiasms, quick to love or hate impulsively. It sounds like a Mediterranean stereotype, but some women who have been insulated from life by money are that way, regardless of their origins. Arguably being born with money may give you more sense than having it dropped in your lap as an adult (but look at Paris Hilton). And of course, one doesn't have to be rich to be ditzy.

And John Kerry was an ambitious gigolo who knew how to turn on the charm when he wanted to. He looks rather shambling and cadaverous now, but in circles focused intensely on politics he might have looked like quite a catch a dozen years ago.

Kerry probably does have a better chance of being elected than Dean, but if Kerry's candidacy looks like a disaster, there's always the possibility someone else will be nominated. Maybe Edwards or even Hillary Clinton. Democrats may well find out that it's not a question of winning the presidency in 2004, but of preventing their ticket topper from doing so poorly that he drags down their other candidates.

It's been said that the primary process allows us to see candidates and their faults in advance and throw out the bad apples or eggs. In fact, a candidate like Clinton who survives the primaries can point to scandals that arose earlier as "old news" and put real questions about his character in the rubbish bin.

It would be something, though, if Kerry survived all the questions about his leftist ties in the 1970s (as Clinton did) and collapsed because of a sex scandal (as Clinton pretty much did). Maybe voters don't care what you did a generation ago, but won't have candidates cheating on them in the present-day.

Who else have they got unless they want to sacrifice Edwards and wait four years.

RUSH - Bill Clinton called Edwards and told him to stay in the race. Bill is going to use Edwards for something.

You are right. The outcry about the Super Bowl Show tells me there's a growing backlash against our cesspool culture. Many people are sick of this stuff. If the story about Kerry has "legs", he's toast. Even most Democrats are weary from having to defend bad sexual behavior. Most of them don't want theirs to be the Sex Party. If this story is credible and is picked up by the "respectable" press (New York Times), Kerry's over and out.

"You'd think this would just make kerry more popular with his base." who cares...bottom line: Kerry should have been investigated in 1971 for making the accusations before Congress that there were mass atrocities against Vietnamese during the Viet Nam war. Kerry's slanderous remarks bordered on treason. A person's military record does not give them a pass for everything they do after their discharge. Semper Fi, Kelly

That is why Edwards must not win.

The out of control health care cost are due to trial lawyers. People demand health care. Offer tort reform. Make it front and center. Trial lawyers are breaking Americas bank, and they're getting filthy rich from it. Edwards is a multimillionaire , and he got that way off the backs of his victims.

The fact that he uses crude language and is abusive to underlings? No biggie

The fact that he actively supported the murdering communist b******s in Vietnam? Bah.

The fact that he lied about a sitting president's military record. Small potatoes.

The fact that he is just a little to the left of Lenin? Reactinary nonsense.

The fact that he lies constantly about his voting record? Who cares?

Sex? Front page news.

I swear, my dopey rabbit beagle has a higher mentality than most of the media. At least he cares about important things like food in addition to sex. :-P

The demonrats won't dump Kerry for something so trivial as sex with an intern. The sad truth is the swingin' moderates(all innuendo intended)don't care about morality so Kerry is still electable.

But if Ms. Heinz dumps him, how is he going to repay the $6mil mortgage back. $300K+ monthly payments on this 100k+ yearly salary? He said he would pay it back with out her help.

Hmmm, townhomed repo'd, Kerry evicted.

Maybe he could rent algore's trailer, down in Tennessee?

"A close friend of the woman first approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories -- stories that now threaten to turn the race for the presidency on its head! "

This is deja vu all over again. It's just like when Linda Tripp went to Michael Isikoff regarding Clinton and Monica. Woah.

Did you hear the female caller from Mass. on Rush? She said, the intern rumor had been floating around in her stse and that Kerry has taken the girlfriend to his and Teresa's home? YIKES!!!!
Why would someone run for President if he has a girlfriend on the side? Didn't Kerry think this would come out?

sex sells...As I have hated stated repeatedly, Kerry's remarks to Congress in 1971 were slanderous and his actions and words bordered on treason. Semper Fi, Kelly

You are right. The outcry about the Super Bowl Show tells me there's a growing backlash against our cesspool culture.

Add the fascist homosexuals in Massachusetts to that list. Americans are being FORCED to accept the dysfunctional sex fetishists as "just lke us.". People in a free country don't like being dictated to, especially if the dictate is contrary to their conscience.

I smell a huge landslide in 2004. The culture war alone will make it happen.

"Even if this intern story is True, the Democrats will still want Kerry over Dean.
Dean has no chance of beating Bush, while Kerry has a chance.

Look at 92, when the allegations came out against Clinton. Clinton still won the election."

Clinton won with only 47% of the vote. Not an overwhelming majority.
