oops, should have done a refresh before posting it myself. :-/
I read the whole thing. It is breathtaking. Here - exposed - is the whole cynical charade that makes clear that Iraqis are *not* the ones doing this violence, but it is synthetically created by a terrorist organization to try to foment sectarian violence.
And although he calls the Americans cowards, and he says he wants to capture Americans to exchange for the 'brothers' at gitmo, he complains bitterly at the American success and the Iraqi security forces that are squeezing him tight. It warms my heart to know he's feeling like a trapped rat.
This letter disproves ALL of the Bush-bashing theories about this current conflict:
1. Liberating Iraq was and IS part of the war on terror.
2. We ARE winning. It is not a quagmire.
3. Al Qaeda was in Iraq before the war, and is there now.
4. The Iraqis are on our side. They are NOT aiding the terrorists in any significant numbers.
5. The terrorists know that after the soveriegnty handover, the charade of 'fighting an occupation' ends, and so they can only hope to destabilize between now and then.

Quite so. The letter, properly interpreted, is a boon to the arguments long made by the administration and a searing indictment of the mentality motivating those who oppose us.
