The No. 1 tragedy of the USSR is the legalization of abortion on demand in 1920. The USSR was the first major nation-state to legalize abortion. Russia is going down the tubes as of "right now" because it's population growth is practically negative. Abortion continues unabated in the former USSR, with more abortions than live births.

Abortion is illegal after 12 week and births jump from 1.2 to 1.9 this year and still on rise...Russia is at level or US and next year above...US only grow because mass Mexican and Arab influx.
