**Shields says the 28-year-old woman was actually trying to get to Vancouver, Washington -- not Vancouver, B.C.**

Oh please....you couldn't get south of Vacouver, WA without being in Oregon - just across the Columbia River from Portland.
If she was one of our pre-invasion operatives going into Canada - God help us. :o)

Betcha it was a smoke grenade --- an uncontrolled and legal non-explosive smoke-emitting canister.

Well, it is possible. If she came west on highway 20 or highway 2, when she hit I-5 there would be a sign indicating "Vancouver, B.C." It's all divided interstate freeway, and the weather has been overcast and rainy lately. Somebody who isn't that directionally gifted could just drive either 50 miles (from the junction of I-5 and highway 20) or 150 miles (from I-5 and highway 2). It's also possible, but much less likely, that she drove through Portland and simply never noticed the signs for Vancouver, WA. In any case, there's absolutely no point keeping her in Canada. She should be turned over to the American border patrol immediately and they can take it from there.

West of Detroit? Excuse me, how does one cross "west of Detroit?" It could be north, it could be east, it may be sligthly southwest...

Where'd they cross? Ann Arbor?

Duh...if the incident was in Washington State why even mention Detroit? Why not just say West of the Rockies?

BLaine is on the west side of the state of Washington....its not near Detroit, not even close.....

Isn't Blaine where they caught the guys before the Millenium celebration, who supposedly wanted to bomb the Space Needle?

Actually I think they were taking one of the ferries, perhaps Victoria > Port Angeles. Not sure though, a whole bunch of stuff has happened since then.

Whoever this soldier's C.O. of that post is, he should be busted to private and thrown out of the military. Every piece of ordinance is supposed to be accounted for before he leaves the base. A rifle shell, sure, I could see that. But a grenade, no excuse.

Well, after all, handguns are illegal in Canada. That leaves grenades, right?

Two things lept out when I saw this. First she claims that her husband is in the military and she didn't know the grenade was in the glove box. Uh-huh. I suppose he was bringing his work home, right?

Second, she claims that she was going north across the border to get to Vancouver, WASHINGTON, not Vancouver, BC. Uh-huh. Vancouver, WA is almost 300 miles in the other direction.

Betting the so called explosive was not a explosive at all, but a dummy practice grenade.

Betting the entire mess was nothing at all.

I wonder how many homes in America have explosives that are
being hiden by illegal immegrants? Today the fight against
terrorism and tomorrow we may be facing Mexico. The only problem with Mexico is they are here and packed into homes
just waiting for a fight.
Our borders have got to be closed and soon, Mexico is becoming a bigger and bigger threat to this country. We will
be fighting a war on American soil and many innocent people
will be killed because our politicians need votes.
ONE LEGAL OR ILLEGAL MEXICAN VOTE IS WORTH MORE TO OUR POLITICANS THAN THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF INNOCENTS AMERICANS. MEN,WOMEN OR CHILDREN THE POLITIICANS JUST DON'T
CARE, A VOTE AT ALL COST.
POLITICIANS WANT VOTES
DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS WANT BODY PARTS.
If the politicians don't kill us for votes the Doctors and nurses will gladly do it for body parts.

you are so right, it was nothing at all.

The gal was headed to Vancouver Wash, but headed to Vancouver BC instead. She said when she got to the border she knew she was wrong, but went thro and turned around, to come back into the US. That is when they found the "gernade" which has turned out to be a paper weight filled with sand, looks like a grenade. lol

All this was in my local paper.
