Sorry, mamaduck. I haven't a clue about what that is/was.

You might consider posting here. AnnMarie (and others) is very sharp when it comes to fixes and keeping up with the latest crap.

Yeah me too...normally when I don't know something like cornclose or soapinternet I run it through google. But these terms aren't suggesting anything nefarious...

Did you UPDATE spy-bot and run it again?

Search your whole hard drive for these files. Right click on the files in search results, and select Properties/Version to see who created them. I bet they'll come up with blanks, but who knows.

Also, see which directory they are in as it may help determine which program installed/uses them.

"prcview", available at www.pcworld.com, is a nice little piece of freeware that will report on processes, where they reside on disk, and other things. It may help too.

...when I roll my mouse over the name 2 bird does in my Program File list, the little yellow box contains this: cornclose.exe, memo.exe, soapinternet.exe, and wave.exe.

That one's a puzzle for sure - be sure to post more details if someone can give more information. I'd say that "soapinternet.exe" is related to www.soapinternet.com; heaven only knows what it wants to install.

The whole adware/spyware phenomenon will probably continue to worsen. The following link is worth a read, as it shows how the people who spread spyware throughout the Internet are trying to suppress the information that people need in order to fight them.
