Bush will appoint judges who will abide by the Constitution.

Sure he will. He's had 3+ years and a majority in both houses.

Unbelieveable -- the House of Representatives has zero to do with the appointing of Judges plus the DemocRATs have declared it will take 60 votes to pass some judges in the Senate. Last I checked we had a bare majority but that was Bush's fault too I guess?

Your agenda is so transparent... you know better than that.

I was reading a book today that addresses this subject. The chapter is called "41 beats 59---That Strange Senate Math"

"Washington, so the anecdote goes, then asked Jefferson, 'Why do you pour coffee into your saucer?' 'To cool it,' Jefferson replied. Washington responded, 'Even so, we pour legislation into the senatorial saucer to cool it.'

Cool it, yes. But not freeze it into an ice cube. Truth is there is nothing at all said in the Constitution about protecting Senate minorities. Our Founding Fathers, I believe, thought the smaller size, longer and staggered terms, as well as state legislation on the selection of senators, would provide more wisdom.

Some constitutional lawyers have argued that any king of super-majority vote is unconstitutional, other than for the five areas specified in the Constitution: treaty ratification, impeachment, override of a presidential veto, constitutional amendments, and expelling a member of Congress."

This was an excerpt from Zell Miller's book, "A National Party No More". I thought the "cooling saucer" reference was a great slam to his fellow democrat senator Chuckie Schumer, who used the "cooling saucer" reference as he torpedoed every one of President Bush's judicial nominees.

I believe you are forgetting that President Bush DID get the overwhelming majority of his nominees approved by the Senate (the House has nothing to do with it). Less than 10 have been filibustered. The fact that the Dims filibustered any is disgraceful, of course, but there are over 150 new conservative judges out there, thanks to our President, and our base is fired up to make the Senate filibuster-proof.

I guess you think Kerry is going to select conservative judges.Kerry's picks will be better for the country?

Kerry's liberal agenda will pull the country right?Kerry's foreign policy, increasing the UN influence and asking France and China permission to act in the best interest of our nation is preferable to Bush?

Kerry may cut the budget it's true ..on defense and intelligence and increase it on education and health care.

He's certainly tried, Fred. You can blame the obstructionist democrats for keeping them out, majority or not. Haven't seen you post for a while, Fred. Hope all is well. Maryxxx

Gee - did he have enough of a majority to override a filibuster? No, then maybe that is the next step.

Or, we can just help the democrats destroy this nation on the hope that "some" will be so shocked at how bad it is that they will elect a true "conservative".

This new true conservative president will put in conservative judges, throw out the government involvement in education, social security, medicare, medicaid, and seek the consensus of "some" conservatives as to each and every move he makes. All of this, of course, overriding the voices in the congress who might disagree.

All to be done in one term - with no side-stepping due to ability to get it done when you think it should be done.

Yep, that is the way to go. Surely we can take back the government from the democrats with this "new conservative" candidate and get him elected. Sure - we can do that - if he is just conservative enough and listens to our wishes and follows them. (/sarcasm)

Take the long view.

The long-run goal is for liberalism to disintegrate, and for the Democratic Party as we know it to fall apart.

Once the Democratic Party implodes, the Republican Party will split in two. Half the Republicans will leave for a new party or to take over the empty shell of the failed Democratic Party just for the political infrastructure.

At that time in the future, our two major parties will be a Liberty Party and a RINO Party, whatever they are named.

This will only happen if the Democrats lose at the polls again and again and again. It won't happen this year yet. But it will happen some day. That is why I vote Republican.
