I'll be voting after I get out of work today. Originally I was thinking about voting for Dean but maybe I should switch to Kerry. What do you think?

Here's the thing that kills me.
He is obviously not part of the DNC rank and file.
So everyone and their mother is telling him to get out of the race for "the good of the party" or whatever.

He has a right to stay in and run for President if he wants. Heck, it isn't like he's missing votes in the Senate or anything.

The arrogance of it all really torques me.

Hi Tractor,

Well, I am listening to Mark Belling right now, and he thinks we should all vote for Kerry, as he sees Edwards as the candidate that would have the best chance against President Bush.

Whichever way you go, be sure to hold your nose, and wash your hands on the way out. Pulling the lever to the dem side is a slimey experience. Trust me, I'll probably have nightmares now... :+)

Not to worry, they're saving the free cigarettes for you all.

We control the Senate and thus the legislative agenda, and therefore we can keep both senators tied up in DC (and off the campaign trail) for all of September if the RATS go down this lane.

Tell that to John Edwards; he missed 80 percent of the votes since October 2003.

Nader will run as an independent not on the Green ticket, I believe the Greens already agreed not to field a candidate in an attempt to avoid what happened in 2000.

Rush was asking a couple of very intersting questions today. He was asking something like that if we thought that Billy Jeff would tell Kerry, if he is the nominee to ask Hitlery to be his VP and if Kerry gets elected if he would finish his first term

I agree with Belling, of course. But an Edwards win would upset the applecart just as Kerry is running out of money and the race headed into Super Tuesday in Florida, Texas, and CA. The Trials would think that their boy had new life and would start plunging money into his campaign. Kerry would face a new press dynamic; "late surge by Edwards!"

Plus, one thing hasn't been mentioned: Edwards is a Clinton protege.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Make that 2004 and I think you have a strong case. Richardson is easily manipulated by the Clintons and is a lure for the Latino vote.

She's been holding her fire on too many issues to not be in the shadow/stealth candidate right now. Her lava is bubbling below the surface.

Opposite experience for me--lived in Oklahoma for most of my life & only past 7 years here. Could be that your southern accent didn't stick :)? Most memorable experience was in a literature class at university--we were discussing a Robert Penn Warren story--and one of the students made the remark (about a feud in the story): ''I thought they were just doing what those people in the south are always doing--fighting.'' Never one to contain myself, my hair stood on end & I reminded her of few of the less than stellar moments in northern history--the Chicago labor riots for one. The prof (a first generation Italian) backed me up & added a couple of other instances and you know what?, that young woman never returned to that class.

If Dean had gotten out, Edwards would have won this. If Clark had gotten out, Ewards would have won OK and TN and possibly Virginia. Edwards would have 5 wins right now. I think Establishment Rats are voting Kerrry, Kerry is so boring. It's tragic really!

I don't see that. He is still winning by a wide margin, just not as wide as forecast. Still, this shows what a wee little bit of negative information can do to Kerry. Wait until he really starts getting blasted.

If they miss the votes, the AWOL label becomes a campaign issue. In fact, this is one of the key shortcomings of nominating Kerry -- he is a sitting duck in September in the Senate -- we are going to make him vote on making the tax cuts permanent, on judges, on defense appropriations, on a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, etc. Senate procedure will be used to destroy him. Either way he votes, he loses... either he enrages his base or alienates the middle of the American electorate.
