This has already been discredited. Yet this keeps poping up over and over here at FR.

Where was this discredited? Larry Flynt may be scum, but he has shown himself to be capable of doing research like this - remember what happened to Bob Livingston...

The real question is not if Larry Flynt's mud slinging will work, but the kind of "news" article you read here, which insists on PARITY between attacks on Kerry and attacks on Bush. Same old, same old mud slinging on both sides--I don't think.

Kerry has spent his whole life as a gigolo and philanderer. Bush has been a happily married family man.

The charges against Kerry are true. Those against Bush are false.

Not only that, but it's mostly not true that Republicans have brought charges against Kerry. Most of the dirt against both sides has been slung by the stooges working for hillary clinton.

The only serious charges I have seen brought against Kerry have nothing to do with his womanizing. They are that he was a commie peacenik who lied about his military comrades and betrayed his country; that he used his position as a war hero to betray and sell out the POW/MIAs in Vietnam; that he is an extreme leftist in his votes in the Senate; and that he has repeatedly sold out to special interests for campaign cash, all the while accusing his opponents of selling out to special interests. Maybe marrying for money and then betraying his wives is a character issue to, but it's less important that his Vietnam treasons.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX THU OCT 26, 2000 11:12:24 ET XXXXX

FLYNT TOLD TO 'PUT UP OR SHUT UP' ON BUSH 'ABORTION'; WOMAN DENIES PORN KING’S ALLEGATION

**Exclusive**

Friends and family of a woman at the center of Larry Flynt’s investigation into Republican presidential hopeful George W. Bush blasted the porn king for spreading abortion allegations and challenged Flynt to ‘put up or shut up,’ the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

"Mr. Flynt better start naming names!" demanded a close friend of the Texas woman at the center of the storm.

"What is he afraid of? We all know this is a setup by desperate Gore supporters. Mr. Flynt will not go into specifics, because he can’t! The story he is spreading around is pathetic. Put up or shut up, Mr. Flynt!"

The controversy surrounding Flynt’s allegation intensified late last week after the all-news network CNN aired the charge.

"We've found out in the early 1970s Bush was involved in an abortion in Texas," the HUSTLER publisher reported on CNN.

Flynt did not offer specifics.

"How could I have aborted George Bush’s child? We never once had intercourse!" the woman explained to friends. "This is outrageous."

The woman’s husband, a government employee in law enforcement, has raised the possibility of legal action against anyone who links his wife to a 'Bush abortion'.

Investigators working for Flynt launched their investigation after the woman’s college roommate came forward and offered to sell information that dated back thirty years.

"She once overheard her roommate on the phone arranging for a doctor, but she never heard the voice on the other side of the phone," said a source.

Flynt and the roommate could not reach financial terms, one insider told the DRUDGE REPORT.

Flynt repeated his story on ABC radio in San Francisco on Wednesday night.

Appearing on Bernie Ward's KGO-AM 810 talk show, Flynt said the abortion took place in Houston in 1970 during the elder Bush's campaign for a seat in Washington. At that time, the younger Bush was working in the campaign.

Flynt claimed he had affidavits from four witnesses.

Once again, Flynt did not offer names.

Developing...

It's well known in Democratic circles that there is a nasty battle going on between Michael Moore and Larry Flynt to be the conscience of the Democratic Party.

Well, you make a good point. No matter what the facts might actually be, it was, in the last analyzis, the choice of the patient to submit to an abortion and that is a choice that is at least now protected by law.

We'll have to wait to see how this all plays out. I suspect that, if anyone can formulate a specific, coherent question on this, the President will be ready to provide a response. I just don't think this "story" has much potential.

Yes indeed that was tried in 2000. That the Democrats hang around with Larry Flynt is to their eternal discredit (let's not forget Carville's appearance in Flynt's autobiography movie). We can only hope this blows up in their faces.

The abortion rumour started last week when rap star Moby, who dislikes Mr Bush, suggested that Democrats attack Mr Bush in his conservative constituencies.

This rumor has been around long before last week. That has nothing to do with its validity, but this is not some sign of Moby's creativity.

Larry Flynt, paraplegic, has only limited outlets for his sex drive now, and he is turning all the energy to dissing George W. Bush. Ol' Larry may not have much in the way of physical equipment, but he sure has a fevered imagination.

And this guy wasnted to be one of the "embedded" journalists in the Iraqi war. Do you suppose he would have developed much rapport with the GIs he was riding with?

Larry Flynt is a sleaze ball. He is in a wheel chair for a reason, someone did not like him. The RNC should file a libel suit against him on belah of the President.

Or maybe it is time to contact some of the women who have appeared in his various media vehicles and clubs and fins out about how many women were minors at the time of thier appearences.

Investigate Larry Flynt Now!

I also notice that in that story, CNN had no problem running with that rumor

Well, I looked into that, too. It seems that what happened is that Larry Flynt was a guest on one of the CNN shows and, while being interviewed by Robert Novak, Flynt just started dumping this stuff on them. From what I could see of the context, it didn't look as if Novak or anyone else on the show saw it coming.

Why should the 'rats think that this has ANYTHING to do with Bush at all?

After all, it is ENTIRELY the woman's decision, and a totally private thing, like getting a wart removed.

According to the Gospel of the Leftist Feminazis.

Didn't they trot this plug out in 2000?

Yes. But they also brought up the AWOL stuff in 2000. For whatever reason they are recycling attacks that failed the first time.

There's no one quite as good as Larry Flynt at discouraging women from going to abortion clinics.

A woman (and her boyfriend) never know if someone like Flynt will sidestep her "right to privacy," in order to smear someone.

I agree. The arguments inherent in the Pro-abortion debate would have to be repudiated by abortion supporters to now justify a political attack on President Bush.

I think the character of "Judge Alvin 'J.P.' Valkenheiser" from the Dan Ackroyd, Chevy Chase, John Candy, vehicle "Nothing but Trouble" was based on Larry Flynt down to the voice and wheelchair and sitting in own excrement.
